Cat lovers, this is the newest cat haven in JB, located under 30 minutes from the checkpoint. Meow Catfe is more than just a café, it’s a multi-concept and one-stop spot for all things cat: a cat café, cat hotel and grooming/spa centre all under one roof.

The 2-storey space boasts over 20 adorable and friendly kitties, all of the Golden or Silver British Shorthair variety. There’s also plenty of obstacles and cat trees around for the cats to play with. Play time is priced at RM10 (~$3 SGD) per session, and even includes a discount on drinks at the café. Some food and snack items you can order include Milky Crispy Roll (RM 10.90), Mixed Fruit Waffle (RM 16.90) and Crinkle Cut Fries (RM 9.90)

2. Inuyama Cat Café

Inuyama Cat Café is a new Japanese-style cat café that’s just opened in JB, with an aesthetic spring-inspired pink and floral vibe, plus plenty of friendly (and even exotic) cats you can play with. This is one of the biggest cat cafés in the area, housing 40 different cats for guests to interact with. Inuyama is located in the Bukit Indah area in JB, about 20 minutes away from the checkpoint.

They’ve got various fluffy and exotic cat breeds, including hairless sphynx cats! Cat breeds housed at the café include Mainccoon, Ragdoll, Persian, British Shorthair/Longhair, American Curl, Sphynx, Munchkin, Scottish Fold, Exotic Shorthair and Laperm. Entrance fees are priced at RM35 per adult (~$10.50 SGD per adult) for a 1 hour session, and includes a complimentary specialty drink. Drinks start from RM 12.90, and for food, they currently only serve a selection of Croffles (RM18.90).

3. Chow Q 2.0

Chow Q 2.0 is a massive 2-storey dog café and recreation centre—and is one of the largest in JB with over 40 dogs, an outdoor swimming pool and hotpot restaurant too. It’s located in the Mount Austin area, about 20 minutes away from the checkpoint. There’s also no entrance fee and no time limit for playtime with the dogs: all you have to do is purchase a drink (from RM 19.90) For eats, they have food and snack combos (from RM 28) with options like fried finger foods and bubble tea.

There are various dog breeds you can play with, including over 20 fluffy giant poodles, huskies, chow chows, along with corgis and pomeranians too. You can even bring along your own pets for a dip in their outdoor pool! You can also snag some pet supplies from the retail section.

Alpaca lovers need to hit up this quirky dessert café in JB: Sugar Lips is a one-of-a-kind dessert café that sports a unique and quirky rainbow-themed interior with all-white walls, ceilings and furnishings splashed with colourful paint splatters.

Located less than 20 minutes away from the checkpoint, Sugar Lips houses free-roaming friendly and fluffy alpacas that you can interact with at no extra charge. Matching the fun and colourful vibe of the café is a whimsical dessert selection featuring vibrantly coloured rainbow dessert platters and rainbow layered cake slices; like the Rainbow Fantasy Dessert Platter (RM29.90) and Tutti Fruity Ice Cream Bowl (RM24.90), among others.

5. D.A Little Farm

Cat and dog cafés are a dime a dozen, but here’s a one-of-a-kind animal café in JB where you get to interact with more exotic species like fennec foxes, meerkats and even skunks. D.A Little Farm is a petting zoo located about 30 minutes away from the checkpoint, with some 10 types of animals housed in the space. Some food items you can order at the café include Japanese Curry Rice (RM 16.90), Saba Fish Set (RM 16.90) and Cocktail Sausage (RM 10.90), among others.

Get up close and personal with exotic animals that you’re usually only allowed to see in zoos: such as sprightly fennec foxes, cheeky meerkats, friendly parrots, a flock of ducks, skunks, baby hedgehog, tortoise and more. 6. As Clouds Café

As Clouds Café is the first-ever OG alpaca petting café in JB, featuring a fully-fledged café-restaurant housing free-roaming alpacas that you can freely pet and interact with! There’s no entrance fee or minimum spending required to enter, you just have to be a paying customer and dine-in at the café to enjoy playtime with the alpacas. Since the alpacas can roam freely while you dine, some have been spotted “stealing” food off customers’ tables, so be warned and keep a close eye on your food!

On the menu is a selection of Western fusion brunch items and desserts like Fish & Chips (RM 23.90), Japanese Katsu Curry Salmon Omurice (RM 23.90) and Big Cat Pudding (RM 15). The café is located about 30 minutes away from the checkpoint.

7. Capyba Café

Capyba Café is the first-ever capybara café in JB with adorable capybaras, capybara-themed desserts and capybara merchandise. Located about 30 minutes away from the checkpoint, the café has a clean and bright, minimalist vibe, and has both capybaras and alpacas in-house.

The café serves brunch mains like bagels, sandos, handrolls and desserts, and some items are even capybara-themed too. Some highlights from the menu include Honey Bee Bagel (RM 26), Mentaiko Tamagoyaki Sando (RM 19) and Smoked Duck Aglio Olio (RM 23.90). There’s no admission or entry fee required to enter the café or interact with the animals, all you have to do is dine-in at the café itself.

This is probably one of the most popular cat cafés in JB, located just 10 minutes away from the checkpoint. HOME by Tales of Paws houses over 30 unique breeds of resident cats in a soothing and inviting rustic-inspired space. For food, you can expect dishes like Takoyaki (RM 9.90), Popcorn Chicken (RM 10.90), Cheesy Wedges (RM 8.90) and more.

The 2-storey space has plenty of cat trees and obstacles for the cats to roam freely, and they’re all known to be really friendly and tame. Expect cats like Maine Coons, Ragdolls, Bengals, British Shorthairs, Sphynx and more. Entry is priced from RM119 for 2 persons (~$35 SGD).

9. Corgi’s Talk Café

If you’re a dog lover, especially of corgis, then you might want to head to Corgi’s Talk Café in JB. this Corgi-specialty dog café is located under 30 minutes away from the checkpoint, and it’s got about 10 corgis for you to cuddle and play with.

Shiba Café’s is the first and #1 Shiba Inu café in JB, and is home to over 10 cuddly and good-natured Shiba Inus.
