Dining in a glasshouse in Singapore? La Terrace is a new intimate and scenic garden dining experience hidden in Dempsey. La Terrace is the new sister concept to Claudine—a renowned French restaurant that’s housed in an iconic restored chapel—tucked away right in Claudine’s very own backyard.

If Claudine is the more accessible offshoot of Odette, the new La Terrace offers an even more accessible dining experience, with a casual and laid-back garden vibe. The main indoor dining area of La Terrace features an intimate glasshouse-esque space with clear windows overlooking the greenery that surrounds. This indoor area is fully air-conditioned, so you can enjoy the scenic garden dining experience in comfort.

There’s also an outdoor patio area that’s also pet-friendly, and is a great option for fur parents to dine-in; or when night falls and it’s slightly more breezy. Whether you’re seated indoors or outdoors, La Terrace offers a stunning location and ambience from evening till night time; and every corner of the space is photo-worthy.

Sardine Toast, $18

Hokkaido Scallop Crudo, $26
Currently, La Terrace only offers dinner from 5pm onwards, but they’ll be having brunch and lunch menus too in due time. Dishes start from $7 each and are designed for sharing, with a pretty modest selection of menu items to choose from. Choose from a series of cold or hot starters, with options like Sardine Toast ($18), Hokkaido Scallop Crudo ($26), Roasted Peppers ($14), Tapioca Fritters ($12), Zucchini Flower ($24) and more.

Half Roasted Chicken, $58
While the starters aren’t the most unique, the standout from the menu has got to be their signature Half Roasted Chicken ($58). This is the only main dish available on the menu for now, and features a cast-iron pot of premium Niigata rice topped with roasted chicken; good for sharing between 2 to 3 persons. The dish is simple enough, rice topped with a perfectly roasted and tender chicken. But the flavour of the rice was on-point: generously flavoured with crispy garlic bits and lard, and we loved how the bottom of the rice was crispy too.

Freshly Baked Madeleines, $16
Another standout from the menu were their Freshly Baked Madeleines ($16), that came in a bowlful of mini bite-sized madeleines that were served still-warm and fresh from the oven. Each madeleine had a subtle crisp crust, and were so fragrant with the aroma of lemon—we could easily devour a second helping of these treats.

They also specialise in gin & tonic drinks, with a selection of 25 unique G&Ts to choose from: with various flavour profiles from floral, herbal, and spicy. While La Terrace is a truly stunning location with great service and ambience; along with a fairly well-priced menu that’s comparable to some cafés in Singapore, we look forward to seeing more food items being added, especially more main dishes.
