Want a piece of home decor that’s not just vibey, but also unique? There’s a DIY studio in Singapore where you can customise your own retro-style neon sign from scratch! RetroCade is a one-of-a-kind design studio that specialises in DIY or custom arcade machine games, and they’ve recently also launched a unique DIY neon sign workshop experience!
@shout.sg DIY NEON SIGN WORKSHOP IN SINGAPORE! This vibey studio under a HDB lets you customise your own LED neon sign from scratch: pick from their list of unique designs or even personalise your own! RetroCade Address: Woodlands Street 13, Block 166, Singapore 730166

You can pick from their extensive selection of template designs, with signs shaped like vinyl players, animals, beer glasses, burgers, popular catchphrases and more. If you don’t fancy any of the designs online, you can even customise your own design or even DIY your own name (subject to availability). They’ve got all the colours of the rainbow available for your neon sign, and you can mix and match unlimited colours to make your sign. Each neon sign workshop has a base price of $45 per sign, and depending on the size of your custom design, it’s an additional $10 per 100㎠. On average, neon signs sized 30cm x 30cm to 40cm x 40cm will cost about $120 to $200 to make.

The workshop is fully guided, and you’ll be making your own LED neon sign from start to finish:
1. Attaching the coloured LED light strips onto the acrylic template
- Soldering the wires together
- Overlaying the design with coloured rubber tubing
- Peeling off the paper film covering
In between each step, make sure to keep testing with the light switch to make sure your neon sign lights up properly.

From our experience, this workshop is very hands-on and quite time-consuming, and can take anywhere between 2 to 3 hours to complete on your own. If you’re the impatient type, you can also order your customised neon sign without having to do the workshop. Aside from neon sign workshops, RetroCade also has build-your-own arcade machine workshops you can try, and while you’re in the studio, you can even play all their arcade and racing games for free.
