First Tomorrowland, and now Disneyland? Following the debut of iconic music festival Tomorrowland in Bangkok this December 2026, it seems Thailand is not done yet—as they’ve recently announced new plans to move forward with an actual Disneyland theme park as well.

While the Thai government has explored the idea of a Disneyland before, there appears to be more of a solid plan this time around; and this renewed interest is coupled with a bold master plan revolving around the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). If the proposal is greenlit, it will become Southeast Asia’s first-ever Disneyland. The Thai government hopes to potentially build a Disneyland theme park around the EEC, a massive plot of land measuring up to 1500 acres in total.

As of now, negotiations are still ongoing; and according to Thai officials like Phiphat Rachakitprakarn say that Disney will be given first dibs to invest in the park. However if Disney’s investment falls through, the Thai government is prepared to purchase a license to operate the Disneyland theme park themselves—similar to the arrangement adopted by Tokyo Disneyland. If Thailand’s Disneyland comes to fruition, the nearest Disneyland to Singapore would be just a short 2-hour flight away.
