It doesn’t seem that the blind box craze is dying down anytime soon, and the latest craze seems to be coming from one of the most unexpected of places—an actual temple. There’s a particular temple in Singapore that’s been making waves lately, not for its worship practices, but for its blind boxes.

Sembawang God of Wealth Temple has a blind box vending machine, and each blind box goes for $4. There’s supposedly about 40 to 50 different possible designs you could get, ranging from a variety of auspicious keychains, charms, ornaments, bracelets, necklaces and other trinkets. Some of the items we got from our blind boxes include plush keychains shaped like gold ingots, God of Fortune keychain charms, beaded bracelets and gold-plated abacus pendants, just to name a few. The blind box vending machine is said to be a fun way to bring joy to temple goers, especially the younger crowd.

We came early in the morning on a weekday and the vending machine was just fully restocked. The machine is restocked pretty frequently, as soon as the blind boxes run out. The blind box vending machine has actually been around in the past, but has only recently gained more popularity—so much so that they had to restock the machine as many as 3 times in one day. The vending machine is a permanent feature at the temple.
