DIPNDIP: VIRAL CHOCOLATE DESSERT CAFÉ OPENS IN SINGAPORE, HAS CHOCOLATE “PASTA”, DIY CHEESECAKE POPSICLES, THEATRICAL CONE-SHAPED SWEETS & MORE!

Chocolate fanatics, the wait is over: the viral dipndip dessert chain is finally in Singapore, and will be opening its very first outlet in VivoCity! We headed down to the café ahead of their official opening to get the first dip, and we’re here to divulge all there is to know about the menu, and what you should get during your visit!

The dipndip café space has both indoor and outdoor seating, with a cosy wood-inspired interior featuring neutral nude tones and touches of greenery. If you’re looking for a quick chocolate fix, they’ve even got a takeaway drink kiosk where you can get smoothies, hot chocolate and coffees to-go.

Chocolate Burj

As for their iconic chocolate desserts, the star of the show is definitely the Chocolate Burj, a visually striking cone-shaped dessert with even more sweet treats hidden beneath! Get your cameras ready as warm chocolate is poured directly onto the chocolate cone shell that melts to reveal lotus biscoff-filled cream puffs and scoops of vanilla ice cream within. This one’s a fun dessert that’s great for sharing, and you’ll only get to enjoy it when you dine in!

Cheesecake Pops

More interactive treats include the Cheesecake Pops: ice cream-shaped cheesecake sticks that you can DIY by dipping into the melted chocolate and coating with the M&Ms on the side. We like how the flavour of the cheesecake itself is on the lighter side, so it’s not too overpowering when paired with all the chocolate.

Fettuccine Crepe

Another unique dish is definitely the Fettucine Crepe, a “pasta” dessert that’s made of crepe strips instead of pasta noodles, served with a dollop of ice cream and drizzled with melted chocolate of your choice. The chocolate is even drizzled at your table—much like a fancy pasta dish that’s made tableside at a restaurant! While the Fettucine Crepe has a novel presentation and is pretty fun to “twirl” the strands of crepe while eating, the flavour itself is a little more basic, essentially a chocolate covered crepe.

Mighty Crepe

We much preferred the taste of the Mighty Crepe, an ice cream-filled crepe that’s rolled up like a popiah and doused with a trio of milk, dark and white chocolate. This one also contains fresh strawberries within, and we found that the tartness from the berries were definitely necessary to balance out the sweetness from all that chocolate.

We also like how you get to choose which chocolate type you want for most of the desserts: white, milk or dark—all authentic Belgian chocolate, of course—and you’ll even get to see all the chocolate in action from the café’s ever-flowing chocolate fountains! The Singapore outlet is also the very first dipndip to offer kid-friendly versions of their signature desserts, so kids can enjoy the same goodness in smaller doses!

Overall, it’s safe to say that dipndip is not for the faint-hearted, and is made for serious chocolate lovers. If you’ve got a major sweet tooth, you might be able to finish one of the chocolate desserts yourself, otherwise sharing among friends and family is definitely the way to go. dipndip will be opening at VivoCity Level 1 this December 2023, with the exact opening date to be announced very soon, so stay tuned!
