Japanese onigiri joints are having a moment here in Singapore: first we have Mr. Onigiri, and now Onigiri Planet! Onigiri Planet is a popular Taiwanese onigiri store, and they’ve just opened their first outlet at Singapore’s Hillion Mall!

From now till 20th July 2023 only, you can snag their opening promotion and get your second onigiri at just $1! Onigiri Planet calls them “rice balls”, but they’re really more like Japanese sushi rice sandwiches. Each one is also freshly made-to-order.

Their Okinawa-inspired onigiri also come in a couple of unique flavours, with one novel sweet-savoury flavour: Peanut Butter Katsu ($6.90). The combination might sound weird, but according to reviews we’ve seen online, it’s pretty good, so don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!

Prices for onigiri start from a pretty affordable $4.90, with flavours like Grilled Mentaiko Scallops, Kimchi Chicken, TarTar Fish, Double Cheesy, Creamy Croquette, Ebi Tempura and more. You can also top-up for various sides and drinks, or make it a combo meal from $6.40. Note that Onigiri Planet is not Halal-certified, but they do not serve pork or lard in their items.
