By this point, you’ve probably seen (and visited) plenty of home cafés in Singapore; but here’s one that you might not know about—they’re not only a dine-in café, but also a pottery studio, plant haven and hobby space as well.

Puny Platypus Coffee might just be one of the cosiest home-based cafés we’ve seen around. They’re located in a spacious 5-room HDB in Hougang, and the living room space has been completely transformed into a cosy and homey space that’s perfect for hosting guests. The space is thoughtfully designed with sofas, warm lighting, plant accents, floral installations and art prints so guests can make themselves at home as they enjoy drinks.

There’s also a dedicated bar area where drinks are made, and on the menu are various handcrafted coffee, non-coffee, and cloud drinks. Prices for drinks start from just $4 each, with options like Earl Grey Cloud ($5), Mont Blanc ($6), Iced Matcha Latte ($6), Oat Matcha Slushie ($7.50), Barista Breakkie ($7) and more.

They’re not just a home café, but also a home pottery studio: with several potter’s wheels in-house for classes. They currently have several handbuilding classes where participants can make items like cups, bowls and trinket dishes. Class prices are still to be confirmed, but 2.5-hour workshops should be priced from $65, inclusive of a drink.

For plant lovers, they’ve also got an entire plant haven here, so fellow plant enthusiasts can come and share or learn tips too. Puny Platypus is also kind of like a creative space, and they host other activities like coffee appreciation workshops, or even candle-making sessions in collaboration with other brands. They don’t open everyday, but you can check out their Instagram for their opening days and hours.
