1. Space Coffee

Space Coffee is one café for the minimalists with a rustic industrial-inspired, almost brutalist theme featuring a stripped down and raw space filled with concrete tones and dark wood accents. Despite the modern decor, Space serves some pretty unique local fare that you don’t often see in cafés.

For eats, look forward to the Space Carrot Cake ($15)—as in the kind served at hawker centres—along with Brioche French ($13), Vege-Mite Toast ($12) and more. You can also get a selection of bakes courtesy of Cloud, alongside coffee drinks like Macchiato (from $4), Piccolo Latte (from $5.50) and Matcha Latte (from $6), just to name a few.

2. Ceres Haus

Ceres Haus is a café and wine bar with an aesthetic moody and vibey ambience that’s perfect for the ‘gram. Located in a shophouse along Circular Road, the café is pretty bare and minimal in decor, lit by warm yellow lamps and natural lighting from the windows. Seating is also quite unique, with crate-like “boxes” placed throughout the space for you to sit on.

They serve a selection of light bites and bakes like Avo Sourdough ($12), Sweet or Savoury Sourdough Toasts (from $14), Marble Cake ($5), Tempeh Chips ($5) and more. For drinks, you have your classic coffee options (from $4) or you can opt for a glass of wine (from $16) from their curated selection of orange, white and red wines.

3. Routine

This is a Korean fusion café and bar with a unique sakura theme, featuring pink blooms decorating the space to make you feel like you’re walking down a path filled with sakura trees! The café has a warm and inviting wood-inspired interior and is even open till 12am daily, so you can head down for supper or late-night drinks.

On the menu are classic Korean favourites and fusion dishes like Kimchi Fried Rice ($15), Bulgogi Avocado Rice Bowl ($21), Avocado Egg Toast ($13); as well as bingsu options like Oreo Choco ($17), Mango ($19), Green Tea ($18) and more. Routine also offers plenty of alcoholic drinks like fruity beer, highballs and wine, among others.

4. Desert Dessert

Besides having a tongue twister of a name, Desert Dessert is a new café in the Redhill area with light bites, waffles, gelato and bingsu. This marks their second outlet, with the first located in Ang Mo Kio. The new space boasts a cosy Scandinavian-inspired interior with cream and pastel tones accentuated by rattan chairs and touches of nature.

For savoury food and bites, look forward to Korean Spicy Chicken Toast ($8.90), Mentaiko Chicken Breast ($8.90), Waffle Fries (from $5.50), Mexican Mid Wings (from $6.50) and more. Gelato (from $4) flavours also range from Honeycomb, Green Apple and Earl Grey Lavender, just to name a few. The café also opens till 12am on weekends if you live in the area and are looking for a late-night treat.

5. Baba Nyonya

There’s a new Peranakan café at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3 helmed by a chef who grew up in a Peranakan household, allowing him to be exposed to a fusion of Malay, Chinese and Indian influences. Baba Nyonya aims to take traditional dishes and give it a modern twist.

Aside from classic Peranakan favoourites, Baba Nyonya reinvents and reimagines the cuisine with their novel Peranakan Omakase ($59) featuring a series of 8 courses including the likes of Tauhu Bakar, Otah Croquette, Nasi Ulam, Lemak Chilli Mussels and more.

6. Alchemist

Popular coffee chain Alchemist has opened a new aesthetic outlet in the CBD serving up gourmet coffee and bakes in their dine-in space! The space is sleek and futuristic-looking with silver and curving elements, and also botanical-themed with the addition of rustic florals all around.

Choose from classic coffee drinks like Black (from $5), Mocha (from $6), White (from $5.50) and more, or opt for their pour overs and batch brews. To pair with your coffee, choose from their small selections of bakes from the display like kouign amann, croissants, quiches, danishes and more. There’s also a retail corner where you can pick up some of Alchemist’s coffee beans.

7. Salt & Palm

A popular restaurant hailing from Sydney, Salt & Palm is a unique café serving up modern Asian fare with an Indonesian flair. The café’s ambience gives off tropical Bali-inspired vibes, with green and pink hues, as well as the addition of greenery all around.

8. Merchant Coffee Roasters

Here’s yet another Aussie specialty coffee bar hailing from Melbourne that has opened shop in Singapore, boasting a flagship roastery and good ol’ specialty coffee. Located in the Dempsey area, Merchant Coffee Roasters has a clean white-centric loft-inspired space, with plenty of communal table and bar seating for you to dine-in.

The cosy space also houses a small retail area where you can shop some of Merchant’s artisanal coffee beans to bring home and recreate the Aussie-style coffee experience. Merchant offers classic coffee brews like Espresso, Cafe Latte, Flat White, Iced Coffee and more, alongside chocolate drinks, tea and juices.

9. café Q classified

café Q is known for their striking and elaborate floral cafés, with a pink-themed outlet in Orchard’s Takashimaya and another purple-themed one at VivoCity, This time, cafe Q has opened a third floral cafe outlet: a blue-themed one at Parkway Parade Shopping Center! The IG-worthy café is decked from top to bottom in colourful blooms, and features blue furniture and lighting.

10. Cafe Lilac

This whimsical café is a rebrand of the popular Whisking Bakes, Singapore’s first orh nee-centric café. Like the name suggests, Cafe Lilac offers everything purple, ie. taro-related, from their iconic orh nee tarts, tiramisu, basque cheesecake and much more.
