1. Cloud

This dreamy café in Duxton Hill looks like something straight out of an art gallery, with an atmospheric vibe and “clouds” floating from the ceiling! The rest of the café’s interior is just as moody, with steely countertops, frosted windows and raw grey industrial-esque accents. The entire café is dimly lit, giving off almost a grim and gloomy ambience, but in the best way possible.

Cloud offers bakes from their display that are freshly baked and rotated every day. You can also choose from a modest selection of classic espresso-based drinks to perk you up, such as Black (from $5), White (from $5.50), Mocha (from $6).

2. Cafe Limonci

This gorgeous loft-style café hidden in an industrial building above a food court looks more like a lifestyle space or art gallery rather than a mere café. Café Limonci is bathed in natural sunlight during the day, with its high ceilings and massive windows, plus plush sofas for lounging around on a lazy afternoon. The space also has communal desks, power plugs and WiFi if you’re looking to work or study here.

The café is currently in their soft-launch phase, with an official opening coming in March along with a more comprehensive food menu. For now the café serves coffee and drinks like Dirty Matcha ($7), Chai Latte ($6), Ices Strawberry Ade ($5) and more, along with light pastries, desserts, gelato and waffles.

3. Waffl

Don’t be fooled by their name, as Waffl serves much more than just plain ol’ waffles! Waffl serves up unique waffle-burgers, or “waffl.burgers” and wraps stuffed full with delectable fillings to make for a super hearty and chonky sandwich. The café is Muslim-owned with a cosy industrial-inspired interior and indoor and outdoor seating.

Waffl.Burgers (from $9.90) come in flavours like Mashed Tuna, Kimchi Chicken, Smoked Salmon and Spicy Chicken. You can also get their Buttermilk Waffl ($4.90) with gelato (from $3.60), plus other bakes from the display, blended drinks, tea and more.

4. Surrey Hills Deli

The popular Australian gourmet grocer, Surrey Hills Grocer, has opened a brand new deli-style concept in the CBD: Surrey Hills Deli, specialising in quick and hearty sandwiches on the go! Instead of a focus on brunch plates and mains, the deli will be centred around easy sandwiches and salads for take-out for all you corporate guys and gals in the area.

The small deli also has a limited seating area if you’re looking to dine in. Similar to their other outlets Surrey Hills Deli has a rustic feel with touches of nature, with the addition of painted murals to spruce up the walls. There are currently eight sandwiches on the menu, each with quirky names like Seize the Moo-ment, Spam the Positivity, Truffle Up, Hendurance and more. 5. Beastly Girls

Get ready for some beastly sandwiches at this new sandwich bar in The Odeon Katong! Beastly Girls lives up to its namesake, offering some of the chunkiest sandwiches in Singapore, enough to satiate those with a beastly appetite. Beastly’s compact space is entirely al fresco, with counter seats and small tables.

Beastly Girls offers open-faced toasts, sandwiches, as well as brunch items like The Breakfast Beast ($16), The Beastly Girl ($16.50), Hot Bird ($16), Mambo Italiano ($14.80) and more. Beastly Girls also prides themselves on using ingredients that are lovingly made from scratch, instead of simply putting raw or pre-prepared ingredients together.

6. Tipo Strada

Your favourite affordable handmade pasta joint Tipo has opened a brand new Tipo Strada outlet at Keong Saik Road! The new outlet marks their third pasta concept in Singapore, with Tipo Pasta Bar at Aliwal Arts Centre and Tipo Strada at Novena’s Royal Square. Interior-wise, the new Tipo Strada has their iconic pastel pink and teal tones, with rows of various colourful handmade dried pasta noodles decorating the space as well.

On the menu are Tipo favourites in your choice of Red, White or Pink sauces like the Creamy Crab ($19.90), Truffle Mushroom ($17.50), Pink Salmon ($18.50), Rosé Duck ($15.50) and more; or you can always DIY your own pasta with your favourite toppings. The new Tipo Strada will also have a retail section where you can scoop and take home their handmade pastas to make at home!

7. Settlers Cafe

Singapore’s first board game café has reopened as a 24-hour spot with a newly revamped interior and menu near Farrer Park MRT Station. The new space features a clean and minimalist white marble-themed interior, with walls of board games, three private rooms and an outdoor seating area too.

The new menu is by Mosanco Enchanted Cafe, offering brunch items, Korean fare, desserts, sides and snacks. Rates to access their board games start from $7 per hour per person, with a minimum order of one food or drink item per person. Highlights from the menu include the Enchanted Scrambled with Turkey Bacon ($15.90), Croissant with Stuffing ($9.90), Bonito & Smoked Salmon Toast ($15.90) and more.

8. Cinnabon

This is probably the hottest and buzziest opening in Singapore this month, with the cult-famous American cinnamon roll chain making its debut at Raffles City Shopping Centre to much fanfare and snaking queues. The 20-seater café space boasts a wood-inspired interior accented with the brand’s iconic robin blue hues, and you can get their world-famous cinnamon rolls to-go or eat them fresh in-store.

You can get their cinnamon rolls as singles or in a box of 4, and they have regular-sized Cinnabons (from $6.80) as well as smaller Minibons ($4.20). Flavours include the Classic, Chocobon and Caramel Pecanbon, and you can choose to add on more toppings for extra sweetness (and messiness) like chocolate syrup, cream cheese frosting or caramel frosting. Cinnabon also has on-the-go bite-sized snacks and drinks to go with your sweet treats.

9. afterwords Café

This is a homey new café in the Chinatown area looking to offer its visitors an alternative perspective to the café experience, in other words—become an afterword. The café’s interior is moody, with dim to minimal lighting and dark-coloured walls to give off an intimate and atmospheric vibe that’s great for quiet chats or solitary me-time dates.

10. The Last Scoop

The Last Scoop is the latest ice cream café in Eunos with unique and unconventional flavours like Pei Pa Gao, WangZai Milk and Cream Cheese and more. The minimalist and no-frills café has plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating and opens till 1am daily for all your late-night dessert runs.

11. Overbrod

If you are a fan of IKEA’s Swedish fare, you’ll definitely be down to try Overbrod: a Scandinavian-inspired deli offering unique and pretty open-faced sandwiches! The interior of the café is minimalist and wood-inspired—very IKEA home-esque—perfect for lounging about with a book on a lazy afternoon.

The café offers unique and pretty-looking Smørrebrød, a traditional kind of Danish “butter bread”, or open-faced toasts piled high with delicious toppings. Look forward to various cold and hot Smørrebrød options like Cured Salmon ($19), Roast Beef ($18), Mushrooms ($15) and more. 12. Le Matin Patisserie

Le Matin has been the talk of the town since they announced they were opening a physical café, and their newly unveiled ION Orchard café is still buzzing with excitement from patrons waiting to try Le Matin’s new outlet-exclusive treats. The café is minimalist and spacious, with a soft Japanese-inspired interior made from light wood, marbled tables and gold accents.

The café serves brunch items as well as dinner and desserts, and you can order cakes and pastries from the display all day. 13. Hot Buns

Need some fuel before partying the night away at one of the clubs in Clarke Quay? Head to Hot Buns for some old school-inspired Asian baos with a modern twist! Hot Buns is a mini convenience store and takeaway kiosk offering Asian street food, snacks, drinks and booze, and they open till 12am!

14. Hellu Coffee

Say Hellu to the latest coffee studio and croffle café in the CBD area! Hellu Coffee is an adorable and cosy café with a warm and inviting wood-inspired furniture and Scandinavian decor. Sit inside and bask in the warm glow of the dim lighting for a moody vibe, or sit at the outdoor tables when the weather’s bright and sunny!

Look forward to a selection of croffles (from $5.50) in flavours like Plain, Choco and Cheese, as well as artisanal coffees like Einspänners topped with their very own homemade cream. 15. 8Bar Espresso

8bar is the latest coffee specialty concept by the folks behind Morphine Coffee, with a one-of-a-kind interior that resembles an old-school Chinese medical hall or apothecary! The café is located in SingPost Centre, with a minimalist and spacious decor complete with raw grey industrial floors and walls, plus clear acrylic tables and chairs for a modern touch.

The café serves Taiwanese-style fare like toasts and snacks, alongside specialty coffee drinks. 18. Cupping Room Coffee Roasters

Award-winning small batch specialty coffee roastery from Hong Kong has opened a second outlet in Singapore! Cupping Room’s second outlet has even more seats than the first, with a minimalist interior of muted and earthy tones.

Located at Robinson Centre at the CBD, Cupping Room has classic brews (from $5) like Espresso, Macchiato, Mocha, as well as filter coffee using their own seasonal blend. You can also get a Chocolate Chip Cookie ($4.50) to have along with your coffee, the only sort of bake that’s available at the café (for now).

19. Kreme Cafe

What was previously known as Chang Wang Cake Shop, has now been rebranded to become Kreme Cafe, a retro-inspired café serving old-school bakes that’ll take you on a trip right down memory lane. Hailing from Malaysia, ASK stands for “Aku Suka Kopi” in Malay which means “I love coffee”, and the popular Malaysian coffee joint has opened its first outlet along Seah Street! The café boasts an elegant interior, with clean white marbles, cream tones and gold accents for a sophisticated yet cosy ambience.
