All-New Toasted Croissant Ice Cream Cafe Opens Along South Bridge Road

Starting out as a luxury accommodation in 2012, Adler Hostel has since evolved to incorporate an all-new Madame Ooze café in its lobby. Pivoting his business in light of an unprecedented global health crisis, café and hostel owner, Adler now aims to incorporate a spontaneous personality into all product offerings.

Fitted with plush and vibrantly coloured furnishing, reminiscent of a vintage European style, this café prioritizes premium hospitality alongside its unique and scrumptious dessert selection.

Best known for the toasted croissant ice cream, Madame Ooze showcases a variety of non-alcoholic beverages, creative flavours, and meticulously selected light, airy croissants. Pleasantly surprised by the public’s positive reception to the café’s concept, Adler was happy to share the inspirations behind the Madame Ooze – which ultimately stem from his personal practices at home. As an avid croissant and ice cream lover, Adler is eager to share his ‘sinfully’ delicious creations with the world.

Sinfully delicious indeed, Madame Ooze prides itself in providing a variety of in-house syrups. Of their innumerable concoctions, guests are recommended to try Madame Ooze’s refined take on Singapore’s favourite Teh Halia. Dubbed the ‘Ice Ginger Tea’, the café utilizes more than 3 different types of ginger, blended together to create an ideal syrup which is neither too powerful nor too spicy.

My personal favourite – the peach lavender flavoured ‘Momosan’ worth $13, which pairs perfectly with the cafe’s Madagascan vanilla and New York Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream, is a non-alcoholic gin and tonic style drink made from premium tonic water and syrup.

Other notable beverages include, the thirst quenching ‘Strawberry Rose Sen Cha’ priced at an estimated $6.50, which is characterized by a light green tea taste, and the ‘Mr Black’ rose and mandarin orange-infused espresso, worth $15, which is an ideal option for guests seeking a power-packed, caffeine boost.

Drinks aside, the café’s main star, the toasted croissant ice cream is a build-it-yourself dessert. With a toasted croissant base, guests are invited to choose from a variety of eight flavours which include, Salted Caramel, Belgian Dark Chocolate, New York Blueberry Cheesecake, Madagascan Vanilla, Sicilian Pistachio, Kyoto Hojicha, Kyoto Matcha, and my favourite Vancouver Toasted Marshmallow.

Priced at an estimated $12 for one serving of toasted croissant with two scoops of ice cream, Madame Ooze offers additional options, served in the form of an ice cream float, ice cream cones, and single scoop cups. One scoop of Madame Ooze ice cream will cost an average of $8 in a cup.

Designed to be consumed first by spoon, and then by hand, Madame Ooze encourages guests to free themselves of inner-inhibitions when devouring their savoury toasted croissant. Despite encouraging patrons to takeaway orders, the café is equipped with outdoor seating for convenient consumption and lounging.
