Hyperlapse was introduced by Instagram late last year and recently, it has rolled out another stand alone app called the Boomerang.
Boomerang is a new video app that takes a burst of photos and stitches them together into a high-quality mini video that essentially plays in a loop. The result has a gif-like resemblance, and many critics have alluded the app to be very similar to Apple’s recently-announced Live Photos feature and Phhhoto, an upstart Instagram competitor. Boomerangs are automatically saved into your camera roll but can easily be shared on your social media platforms since the app doesn’t have its own feed.
Boomerang from Instagram is available today.
