There Is Finally Going to be a Bubble Tea Emoji

Emojis are awesome — they encapsulate what we want to say and more through the form of tiny graphics. Except we really don’t like it when we have to use a glass of milk or a to-go cup emoji to represent bubble tea. Well, not anymore. The Unicode Consortium, a non-profit organisation that develops the Unicode Standard, released the final emoji list for 2020, and you guessed it: they have a bubble tea emoji!

This bubble tea emoji is everything we’ve dreamt of it to be: milk tea flavoured (or at least we think it is) complete with boba pearls.

The new emoji list for 2020 will consist of 117 emojis, which include 55 gender and skin-tone variants and gender-inclusive emojis. Here are some of our favourites:

We’re not sure why would anyone want to see creepy crawlies in the form of emojis, but hey, even insects need representation too.
