A hidden gem for those who wish to escape from the hectic day-to-day hustling, Kampung Life is a kampung-inspired space with good food and little-to-none outside interference. Perfect for disconnecting – or even a social media cleanse – this tranquil spot is an hour’s drive away from the JB checkpoint, and at least a 25-minute drive from the nearest city, Bukit Indah!

The ground at Kampung Life remains mostly undeveloped, except for a prawning pool, a playground for children, a canteen sheltered by an attap roof, and a few pavilions that light up beautifully when night falls.

Everything else is as true as possible to a kampung, with good ol’ fashioned underground kilns and large wood ovens to churn out honest-to-goodness roast chickens and clay pot dishes!

Might I also add that they’re the first and only place in Malaysia that serves Lychee Wood Roast Chicken – a unique speciality that is made by marinating the chicken in spices and herbs for 4 hours, before heating it to a scorching 480°C for about 30 minutes. The result? An exceptionally sweet and juicy chicken!
