With Singapore’s hot climate, it’s no wonder why we’re so obsessed with icy treats to cool us down, particularly shaved ice—a treat that’s perfect for sharing, or to make for a full meal if you’re feeling especially hungry. There are various renditions of the popular shaved ice dessert: one of the most popular is probably the Korean bingsu, Chinese or Taiwanese snow ice, and of course our very own local ice kachang!

Another version of the shaved ice dessert would be the Japanese kakigōri, a frozen treat that you don’t see very often in Singapore. Well, the food news is: you’re now able to taste these amazing Japanese shaved ice treats for yourself, and not just any kakigōri—but artisanal ones brought in directly from Japan! Sakanoue Cafe is a popular specialty kakigōri café from Tokyo boasting hours-long queues and they’ll be bringing some of their classic kakigōri treats to Singapore for a two-week pop-up at Isetan Scotts!

What makes Sakanoue Cafe’s kakigōri so special is their elegant and premium flavours. There will be 6 unique kakigōri flavours on the menu: such as an adorable panda-shaped red bean one topped with silky fresh cream espuma, a classic strawberry cream one (think strawberry shortcake!), nutty pistachio raspberry, a boozy sake cream and cherry blossom, a funky blue cheese with red bean paste and of course, matcha!
