Planning a trip to Bangkok sometime this February? Here’s a new free activity you can try while you’re there: Bangkok has just launched new electric boat taxis along the Old Town canals and you can ride them for free for a limited time only!

The new electric boat taxis are currently being trialled, with ride routes now available along the Phadung Krung Kasem canal towards Bang Lamphu. The route starts at Hua Lamphong Railway Station pier, and ends at the Phra Sumen Fort pier; with a total of 14 stops. The good news is that these free electric boat rides are open to the public, including tourists, and you can book a ride via the Mumvi app. You’ll have to specify which stop you’ll like to be picked up and dropped off at during booking. Each boat can accommodate up to 6 passengers at a time.

The electric boat rides also include stops that are near tourist attractions, restaurants, cafés and photo spots; so you can make use of them as an alternative (and scenic) way to travel across the city. Some of the stops along the route include Ratchadamnoen Nok, Thewarat Market, Lan Luang Intersection, Ban Phan Thom pier and more. The stops featured on these boat rides highlight some of Bangkok’s more historical and cultural areas. The boats are open for public booking from 9 to 5pm, and are free from now till 28th February 2026.
