HARRY Hedgehog Cafe And Pet Store – Japan's first Hedgehog Cafe

Animal cafés are nothing out of the ordinary – dog and cat cafés are common in many countries today, a haven for animal lovers to interact with these adorable furballs. But Japan is way ahead of the game with their latest addition: a hedgehog café in Tokyo.

Harry, Japan’s first hedgehog-themed café, gives customers the opportunity to cuddle and play with these spiky mammals. Some 30 hedgehogs of different breeds can be found here and are separated into different categories, namely “Salt n Pepper”, “Pied”, “Cinnamon”, “Brown” and “Albino”.

Located in the Roppongi entertainment district in Tokyo, it costs ¥2,000 (SGD 27) on weekdays and ¥2,600 (SGD 35) on weekends to spend an hour with these hedgehogs. Hedgehog snacks like mealworms are also available should you wish to feed these pink-bellied critters.

This café quells the misconception that hedgehogs are hard to handle. By letting people get up close and personal with these prickly characters, customers can then get past the seemingly intimidating prickly exteriors and appreciate their softer side.

Should you fall helplessly in love with a particular hedgehog during your hour-long interaction, you can actually take one home! Apart from a self-service selection of beverages and hedgehog interaction, Harry also sells hedgehogs to interested owners.
