HERMÈS-THEMED OMAKASE IN SINGAPORE WITH HERMÈS DECOR & THEATRICAL DINING!

Is this a Hermès store or a restaurant? If you’re looking for somewhere extra special for omakase, we might’ve found just the spot. Kenwa Orenji is a new omakase restaurant in Singapore, with a novel Hermès-themed interior!

There’s just so many Hermès items decorating the space, it almost looks like an entire Hermès exhibition or even a mini store all on its own! The entryway is decked in the iconic Hermès orange hue, filled with authentic Hermès pieces: from the classic orange boxes, saddle box, rocking horse, cushion, blanket, pop-up book, to all the framed scarves decorating the walls!

With such a luxuriously decorated space, you’d expect the omakase to be equally as opulent, and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Not only will you be dining using Hermès dishware, every aspect of the omakase course is meticulously crafted and curated to a tee.

Sake Cocktail

Seasonal Appetiser

Premium Sashimi

Toro “Bomb”

We had the 10-course Dinner Omakase ($388++ per person) that started off with a sake cocktail, a welcome drink that’s served to all diners for all courses. Nearly every course was a hit, complete with uber fresh ingredients and seafood. We especially enjoyed the crowd favourite Toro “Bomb”, which is not just a dollop of chopped tuna belly, but is served atop a crispy shell made with prawn heads and topped with uni and caviar—an umami flavour bomb indeed.

Whole Braised Abalone with abalone liver sauce

Hokkaido King Crab Claw (3 ways)

Aka Ebi (Red Prawn) with prawn head butter

Hotate (Scallop) with Foie Gras

Chutoro with Minced Otoro

Sushi lovers can get excited for the trio of Chef’s Pick nigiri, with each piece surpassing the last. Don’t expect the usual run-of-the-mill nigiri, these are especially premium, like the Aka Ebi (Red Prawn) topped with prawn head butter and Hotate (Scallop) with Foie Gras. There’s even theatrical and interactive elements where the playful chef has you hold the final Chutoro with Minced Otoro nigiri on your hand as you “catch” a floating smoke bubble and pop it right on top of your sushi!

Uni “bump”

Miyazaki A5 wagyu don with uni

The nigiri course is followed by even more uni, this time served directly on your fist so you can best savour the natural flavour of the uni—kind of like the uni version of a “caviar bump”, if you will. The uni course is followed by another fan-favourite, a Gyuniku don featuring incredibly marbled and tender Miyazaki A5 wagyu and finished with—you guessed it—more uni.

Double boiled white fish soup

Japanese musk melon & homemade jelly

Tying off the meal is an ultra comforting double-boiled white fish soup (none of that basic miso soup here) and a dessert duo of perfectly sweet Japanese musk melon and homemade jelly spheres. Kenwa Orenji’s Lunch Omakase is priced at $188++ per person for 8 courses or $288++ per person for 9 courses; and $388++ per person for a 10-course dinner.

On top of a stunningly curated omakase meal, you can tell that they’ve really thought of everything to make your dining experience the best one possible. Feeling a little chilly? Ladies will be gifted a complimentary cashmere shawl (brand new, of course). After your meal, head to the bathroom to freshen up using Hermès hand sanitiser and complimentary (individually packed) mouthwash, dental picks and Q-tips!

While the prices here aren’t the most accessible, and you can probably find plenty of other more affordable omakases in Singapore at a much lower price point, you’ll definitely be getting your money’s worth. Kenwa Orenji offers plenty of premium ingredients throughout the meal (out of the 10 courses we had, 5 of them included uni!), and they’ve definitely nailed the theatrical flair and performance aspects of an omakase. So if you’re looking for a luxe omakase spot for a special occasion, or just to treat yourself, you know where to go.
