MINIMALIST CAT-INSPIRED KOREAN FUSION CAFÉ WITH TRADITIONAL SHAKER LUNCHBOX!

Cafè GUI is the latest café addition to the Novena area, serving up casual Korean fusion fare! The café oozes homey cosiness with its clean and minimalist interior that is simple and fuss-free, perfect for a soothing and calming brunch or lunch affair.

GUI started as a passion project of sorts, stemming from the owner’s love for making aesthetic and comforting food for friends and family. As for the name, GUI is named after the owner’s beloved cat, GuiGui, who passed away from cancer last June. As such, the café is also an homage to the loving memory of GuiGui the cat, and you’ll find several cat-themed decor pieces and displays in the café to honor her memory.

GUI boasts Korean-Japanese fusion fare, with several unique menu items like a traditional Korean Dosirak Rice Bowl ($15.90), served in a nostalgic rectangular bento box filled with rice, spam, sunny side up egg, kimchi and pickles. The Dosirak is meant to be covered and shaken vigorously to mix up all the ingredients, making this a fun, one-of-a-kind experience if you’ve never had a traditional Dosirak before.

Other highlights from the menu include GUI’s Tamagoyaki ($7.90), Japanese Canadian Premium Okonomi Hotdog ($13.90), Japanese/Korean Ramen ($9.90) and more. GUI’s desserts are also not to be missed, with the likes of Hojicha Pudding ($6.90) and Korean Black Soy Pudding ($7.90). Don’t miss out on their signature Dalgona Honeycomb ($9.90) drink either: house-made dalgona honeycomb served atop milk and espresso.
