PASAR MALAMS IN JOHOR BAHRU LOCATED WITHIN 20 MINUTES FROM THE CITY CENTRE!

1. Taman Century Garden

Starting with the first day of the week, we have Taman Century Garden Pasar Malam that opens only on Monday nights! This is the popular Pasar Malam that’s right in front of KSL City Mall and is less than a 10-minute drive from the city centre.

Taman Century Garden opens from 5pm onwards and you can find a variety of stalls selling cooked food and local favourites like carrot cake, grilled seafood, char kway teow, chilli crab and more; not forgetting the muah chee that’s always sold out! Do come early though, as the Pasar Malam is a hot favourite and can get pretty crowded at peak dinner hours.

2. Taman Johor Jaya

The Johor Jaya Pasar Malam opens on Tuesdays and is roughly a 20-minute drive away from the city centre. The Pasar Malam is also less than 10 minutes away from AEON Mall Tebrau City.

This is one of the biggest Pasar Malams you’ll find in JB, and offers a wide variety of things to shop and eat. If your preference is Chinese food, this is where you’ll find a good selection of Chinese vendors. Aside from food, you can also shop for items like clothes, bags, toys and more.

3. Taman Suria 

Taman Suria Pasar Malam opens every Wednesday and is located approximately 10 minutes away from the city centre. Taman Suria is also located opposite Giant Taman Suria, which is a mere 2-minute drive away.

This is one of the smaller, lesser known Pasar Malams in JB with a little less variety compared to the larger ones, but they still offer a good selection of local Malaysian goodies. Find Malaysian favourites like curry puffs, putu piring, nasi kerabu, ayam goreng, laksa, mee rebus and more. You can also shop for fresh groceries here such as fruits and vegetables, fish and dried foods.

4. Bandar Selesa Jaya 

On to Thursday: we have Bandar Selesa Jaya Pasar Malam that’s located about 20 minutes away from the city centre.

Here you’ll find stalls selling cooked and fresh produce like fresh fish, vegetables, fruits and more. There will also be stalls selling knick knacks, clothing items and toys, among others.

5. Taman Universiti

TGIF at Taman Universiti Pasar Malam that opens every Friday. Taman Universiti is located approximately 20 minutes away from the city centre by car.

This Pasar Malam has a good balance of both Malay and Chinese vendors, and you can find eats like carrot cake, laksa, fried chicken and more. There will also be stalls selling fresh produce like meat, fish, sundries, vegetables and fruits.

6. Taman Desa Tebrau

Finally, it’s the weekend—head to Taman Desa Tebrau Pasar Malam that opens every Saturday! Taman Desa Tebrau is a 20-minute drive away from the city centre and boasts a good selection of food stalls with a nice mix of both Chinese and Malay vendors.

Aside from food stalls selling peanut pancakes, ayam rendang, nasi lemak and more; you can also get goods like electronics and clothes, as well as fresh groceries like fruits and vegetables.

7. Taman Permas Jaya 

On the last day of the week, try stopping by Taman Permas Jaya, a Pasar Malam that opens every Sunday. Taman Permas Jaya is also situated just 15 minutes away from the city centre, right next to the Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel at Permas Jaya.

This is uqite a big Pasar Malam, with around 50-60 stalls in operation selling a wide variety of fresh produce like seafood, fruits and vegetables, as well as cooked food items like mee goreng, braised pork rice, sushi and more.

8. Pasar Karat

If you’re looking for a Pasar Malam that opens every day of the week, try Pasar Karat; located just 5 minutes away from the city centre. Pasar Karat opens till 2am daily, ideal for when you’re hankering for some supper or a late night snack.

The Pasar Malam offers a range of souvenirs like t-shirts, caps, bags and more; as well as food stalls selling rainbow bread, fried chicken, cut fruits, BBQ meats and more.
