Around for slightly over a year, this hipster night market is every frugal foodie’s dream come true — because everything is so affordable and good, like this Lok Lok stall at the entrance of the market:

All lok loks, regardless of meat or vegetables, go for just RM1! That equates to about 30 cents a stick. Find an impressive range of food, such as pork belly, chinese sausage and otah!

The stall owner goes through a dedicated process for all items. First, he dips them in a pot of hot cooking oil till they’re cooked, barbecues them on his grill and lastly peppers them with chilli powder. You’ll find yourself going for many sticks!

Love xiao long bao but find them too expensive? You can get a tray of five for less than 20RM (~$6!) at Permas Jaya!

Fancy some thick, sinful pork belly? You can get an entire slab for RM9 (~$3) here. You’re welcome.

The owner is also very friendly and will cut the pork belly into cubes if you wish too!

The salted egg trend may slowly be dying here, but not in this night market. This stall in particular has a fried chicken burger in salted egg sauce!

Just look at how big the chicken cutlet is!

Love a good ol’ plate of fried rice? Have it large in a bamboo case for just RM9 ($3) instead:

At this unique stall, aptly called Oscar Bamboo Style, all dishes are fried wok hei style and served in bamboos instead of plates. We ordered a chicken fried rice with vegetables, but they have other varieties on their menu too like seafood and sweet and sour pork and ingredients like coconut milk and sambal chilli! The best part? Everything on the menu is RM9 ($3)!

Don’t leave the market without trying Malaysian hokkien mee too!
jbmarkeat-1151
Malaysian hokkien mee, unlike Singapore’s version, is cooked with a copious amount of sweet sauce and has thick springy noodles that resemble udon in terms of texture. It is also sweet instead of savoury.

Apart from food, the night market also has claw machines where you can catch cute plushies, power banks and gadgets!
