Not your usual run-of-the-mill minimalistic boutique hotel, XY Hotel Bugis Singapore is where home, art and technology meet, a museum of its own just waiting to be explored. With 10 hotels sprung up across China in just two years, XY Group has decided to venture into Singapore and set up what lady boss Hwee Cheng describes their quirky boutique hotel as their Singapore flagship location, showcasing what XY Group is all about; fun, happiness, freedom to express and your home away from home.
Centrally located in Kampong Glam – 15 minutes walk away from the main Bugis shopping district and MRT station, the hotel’s interior and exterior reflect the area’s artistic vibes and heritage. From the restored olden rottan chairs in various pops of colours located at all the common areas in the hotel, to the pink neon lights glowing against the matte black walls (the whole exterior walkway is lit up in neon pink at night!), every feature, colour and paint mark in the hotel has a meaning and story behind it.
With a total of 15 rooms, the room are designed to have a black-white setting with hints of a bright colour in each room, giving each an unique quirky character. Each room has a different mural with a different story to be told behind each of it, done up by various artists; both local and international. Some of the artists featured are New York based Japanese artist Tomoko Tsuruta, local artist Deborah Loh, up-and-coming local artist Liu Xuan Qi (Leo), and many more. The artists are given the freedom to express their passion through their artwork. Descriptions explaining the concept and story behind is mural is described by the artist themselves on a small information board located in the corner of each unit.
