We already know of claw machines for plushies, toys, collectibles and other inedible items, but would you believe there’s also a durian claw machine in Singapore that has real, actual durians, and for just $1?! We couldn’t believe it either, so of course we had to head down to check out these novel claw machines!
The machines are supplied by local entertainment company, Play United, and are stocked with real mini durians. The machines are also refilled with new durians daily, so you can be assured that the durians you catch are fresh everyday. Each play for the durian claw machines only cost $1 (1 token), so if you manage to succeed on the first try, you’re basically getting an entire (mini) durian for just $1—possibly the cheapest in all Singapore!
Of course, as with all claw machines, it’s not so easy to snag the prize, and we took a couple of tries before getting any. You’d think that since the durians are heavier than the usual toy/plushie, it’ll be impossible to get, but that’s not true at all! It took us a couple of tries before we managed to get any durians, but it was still a fun and exciting claw machine experience nonetheless.
The durian claw machine is extra fun because you actually get to eat what you catch! There’ll be staff stationed at the claw machine area to help you crack them open so you can eat the durians on the spot. Don’t be fooled by the small size, the durian seeds are pretty fleshy!
The durian claw machines can be found at the Toa Payoh Centre Courts Pasar Malam and Choa Cho Kang Pasar Malam (near Lot 1) from now till 11th June 2023. You can also find them at selected Play United outlets in Singapore: Hougang Mall and Tampines 1.
