Things To Do This Weekend (23 – 25 December)

The countdown is finally over and Christmas is just around the corner! With a couple of flea markets, an art exhibition, a Harry Potter themed stamp exhibition, free live performances and a music gig coming up, we hope that there will be something for everyone regardless of whether you celebrate Christmas or not.

Celebrate the Christmas cheer at the Esplanade with free music performances, interactive storytelling sessions, puppetry programmes, and DIY craft activities. The Esplanade also has family-friendly activities, with performances by Hometown Heroes, Nasyiba Sahari, The Voodoo Sound, Concord Primary School choir to look forward to. Acts like The Mad Company and Singapore Char Siew Baos! will accompany you as you count down to the new year.

2. Collecting Magic: From Stamps to Wands

Singapore Philatelic Museum’s Potter-themed exhibition will be a sure hit among Potterheads and regular “muggles” alike. Not only are beautiful Harry Potter stamps from all over the world going to be on display, movie memorabilia and collectibles from private collectors are on loan for the public to see. Look out for the first licensed Harry Potter stamps, First Day Covers, postcards, special cancellations, unusual stamp labels, limited edition books and DVDs, prop replicas, movie posters, toys and more.

3. Christmas at Tanjong Pagar Railway Station

Enjoy live jazz performances, a Christmas market and more before the station closes for future development till 2025. Learn more about the history and heritage of the Tanjong Pagar Railway station at the specially curated exhibition. You can also spread the love this Christmas by donating new and pre-loved toys and books to the underprivileged at the Community Chest booth, or make a donation and hop onto the train that will take you around the station.

4. On Point! Group Exhibition

Element Art Space’s first exhibition composed of illustrations, showcasing three Singaporean illustrators Natalie Kwee, Teresa Lim and Mark Wee, who use pens and needles for their works. ‘On Point!’ pays homage to the daily Singaporean life as seen through each artist’s eyes.

5. The Local People x CHIJMES

Head down to the lawn at CHIJMES for a garden party with music, food, shopping and a jolly great time. You can expect vendors to be selling local wares, from handmade jewellery to art pieces, and some food for the hungry reveller as well. You can also purchase a booth to hawk your wares, starting at $125 per store.

6. Tropos 5.0 by ATMOS

If you are into the local music scene, why not head down to SCAPE to hear some bands from our neighbour just across the causeway. TROPOS 5.0 will feature Malaysian bands Man Under Zero Effort and As Rusty Empyrean, as well as local bands the Psalms and This Is Atlantis.
