Omakase is typically rather pricey, so when we found Miraku, a sushi restaurant at Telok Ayer with 13-course omakase lunch sets for $38, it instantly went on our to try list.

At this upscale hole-in-the-wall establishment, a $38 13-course lunch includes an appetiser, nine pieces of nigiri sushi, a hand roll, soup and dessert. Apparently, all fresh catches are flown in from Japan too, ensuring high quality and authentic omakase dishes.

Don’t mind topping up a little more to get a bigger fare? A 15-course version is available for $68, where you get three appetisers, nine pieces of sushi including uni, succulent Wagyu Sukiyaki with Onsen Egg, soup and dessert.

However, do note that these special omakase prices only apply during lunch hours (11am-3pm). Dinner would set you back more, but looking at the quality of food served at Miraku, we anticipate the dinner menu to be even better.
