KOREAN-INSPIRED BAKERY-CAFÉ IN SINGAPORE HAS BUILD-YOUR-OWN YOGURT BAR & CHUNKY DESSERT SANDWICHES!

Want a sweet treat but worried about your sugar intake? We found a “clean” café in Singapore that offers treats with zero sugar, and made with natural ingredients, so you can enjoy an indulgent dessert without the guilt.

Oatsome is run by a sweet husband-wife duo, and is one of the rare healthy bakery cafés in Singapore that crafts most of their bakes and desserts with no added sugar. They specialise in treats made with yogurt, including their parfaits, gyattos (gateaus) and mammoth bbangs. The space is thoughtfully designed to feel relaxing and homey, with a beige colour palette, plant accents and warm lighting. There are also cosy soft seats and tables for dining in.

Greek Yogurt Bowl, from $7

They’ve also got a build-your-own greek yogurt bar where you can customise your own yogurt bowl starting from $7. First pick your yogurt flavour (plain or black sesame), then add your desired toppings and drizzles from a selection of homemade add-ons like Black Sesame Granola, Unsweetened Pistachio Butter and No Sugar Yogurt Brownie Bites. Their greek yogurt is made in-house by straining for 72 hours, to give you a texture that’s thicker and more dense than regular store-bought yogurt. If you’re someone who likes your yogurt desserts sweet and loaded with colourful toppings, this might not be your cup of tea—their yogurt is much more plain-tasting, and very minimally sweet, even with the addition of their drizzles and toppings.

Black Sesame Dark Choc Mammoth Bbang, $15

Black Sesame Pistachio Gyatto, $22

Their other bakes are slightly more rich and indulgent: like the Black Sesame Pistachio Gyatto ($22) and Apple Cinnamon Parfait ($20), which are our top picks from the menu. These treats are made with the same yogurt base, but flavoured with apple cinnamon, crumbles, brownie bites and more. They’re also pretty hefty and filling, so you can easily have them as a healthy meal, or for sharing. One of their most popular items are the Mammoth Bbang ($15), which are ultra-chunky brioche sandwiches stuffed with fillings like cream, yogurt mochi brownie slabs and other toppings. They’re served chilled, but taste best when you heat them up slightly for that contrast of warm bread and cold filling.

Hojicha Black Sesame Yogurt Gateau Cake, $12

Tiramisu Cinnamon Bun, $6; Pistachio Cinnamon Bun, $7

Oatsome also offers a range of seasonal bakes like the Hojicha Black Sesame Yogurt Gateau Cake ($12), which is also made with yogurt. Their menu switches up every couple of weeks, but some mainstays include their Pistachio Cinnamon Bun ($7) and Tiramisu Cinnamon Bun ($6) which are baked fresh and toasted to order.

We found a new clean bakery café in Singapore with built-your-own greek yogurt bowls, giant Korean-style dessert sandwiches, parfaits, cinnamon buns and more—and they’re guilt-free, low-cal and sugar-free! Oatsome is a unique café offering “clean” desserts and bakes that are not-too-sweet, with bakes starting from $6. Everything you see here is freshly homemade in-house: from the fillings, toppings, drizzles, yogurt base & baked goods. They even list down the macros on their menu, so health-conscious eaters know exactly what’s in their treats. Yogurt lovers can DIY their own Greek Yogurt Bowl ($12) with a selection of fresh seasonal fruits and homemade toppings. But we enjoyed their Black Sesame Pistachio Gyatto ($22) and Apple Cinnamon Parfait ($20) more as they tasted more indulgent, but without the guilt. If you’ve got a major sweet tooth, these treats might not be for you, as they’re more “plain”-tasting, and very minimally sweetened. Oatsome Address:100 Tg Pagar Rd, Singapore 088521

If you’re someone who’s health-conscious but you still want a little sweet treat, Oatsome is a good option to consider for your dessert fix—they even include the macros and nutrition information on their menu items, so you know what you’re consuming. However, we do wish that Oatsome also served drinks in their menu to pair with their treats, especially for those dining in; as some of the items that are loaded with toppings/fillings can feel quite drying without a drink to enjoy them with.
