Contemporary artist Patricia Piccinini pushes boundaries with her new upcoming exhibition titled Patricia Piccinini: We Are Connected.
Patricia aims to challenge conventions of nature through her hyper realistic depictions of animals and humans, as well as human-animal hybrids. The exhibition will feature various sculptures and installations that bear a significant likeness to humans: like human babies, children and adults with animal features, or animals that look eerily like humans; with some of the sculptures even making use of actual human hair!
These quirky, almost disturbing sculptures are meant to evoke a sense of the uncanny; as well as highlight the ever-evolving relationship between nature and humankind, along with the impact that technology and genetic engineering has.
The exhibition will feature artworks in various mediums: sculptures, videos, collages and installations. Patricia Piccinini: We Are Connected will be open at the ArtScience Museum from 5th August 2022, and tickets (from $11.20) are available for purchase now here.
