Robinsons Returns As an E-commerce Concept in June After 5-Month Closure!

To the disappointment of many Singaporeans, the 162-year-old department store Robinsons announced its unexpected liquidation and closure in Singapore last October. Bidding two outlets farewell with a storewide closing down sale, Robinsons officially left the Singapore market in January 2021.

Expected to now return, thanks to a recent press announcement which details the store’s new e-commerce concept known as ‘Robinsons Online’. Taking on a completely new form, the all-new Robinsons Online is described to be “a fully digital, state-of-the-art, vertically integrated online department store” that will go live on 24th June 2021.

Showcasing products from over 200 familiar, homegrown, and new-to-market brands in one site, Robinsons is also set to feature exclusive collaborations on the new digital platform. Head by Jordan Prainito, the former managing director of his family-run company Canningvale Australia, an online-based bedding, towels and homeware brand, the all-new Robinsons Online has announced interest in hiring Singaporeans “to fill various positions”, and have already confirmed two former Robinsons’ employees for the online store.

Designed to be easy to navigate, visually pleasing, and ‘perfectly curated’, Robinsons Online assures users of its trusted, safe and secure checkout process, complete with a “hybrid drop-ship model”, which enables suppliers to hold their own stock and pack online orders, whilst Canningvale Australia oversees the logistical end of sending the goods to customers and processing returns.
