1. Singapore Night Fest

If you have yet to soak in the festivities at this annual nocturnal event, this is your last weekend to catch spectacular light shows and roving performances in the Bras Basah-Bugis precinct. 2. Comedy Talk Show by Harith Iskander

Harith Iskander, Malaysia’s godfather of stand-up comedy, is in town this weekend for an exclusive one-night-only comedy show that you do no want to miss. This veteran in the comedy scene has brought guffaws of laughter to many of us for over 20 years now, and his infectious presence has since reached thousands of viewers on one of Malaysia’s premier cable channel. Mark you calendars and come down for an evening of hearty laughter, homegrown band The Lost Box will also be putting up an acoustic performance – their pensive lyrics and heartfelt melodies are sure to tug at your heartstrings.

3. Zao Wou-Ki: No Boundaries

This late painter is known for his abstract work and the way he weaves both French and Chinese techniques in his pieces – expect a French peintre-graveurs (‘painter-engraver’) meets Chinese calligraphy, East-West fusion kind of exhibition. Art appreciators will also be able to spot influences from the likes of Picasso, Cézanne and abstract expressionist Paul Klee.

4. Lithography Demonstration

After your curiosity and interest have been substantially piqued at the Zao Wou-Ki exhibition, you can head on over to chief printer Eitaro Ogawa’s workshop and watch a live demonstration of the various lithography techniques the late Zao uses in his works.

5. Weekend Wine-ing

Let down your hair and round up your week with a tinge of class at Weekend Wine-ing, an event hosted by Mr Punch Public House that features a series of wine tastings from different wineries around the globe. For the month of August, Mr Punch will have you tasting all of his favourite brands from his globetrotting adventures – savour classics from both the old and modern world in this sensory experience.

6. The Singapore Rhapsodies Concert

Fans of Diya Tan, Charlie Lim and Daphne Khoo, you’re in luck – head down to Sentosa and #supportlocal at this outdoor beach concert this weekend. Held in picnic-carnival setting, this inaugural concert will feature live performances emerging home-grown talents as well as an array of other activities including an art market hosted by local art market vendor, Togetherly, as well as local food delights.

7. SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army

Both the SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon are back again after a one year hiatus! Boasting a picturesque route along Marina Bay, there is a category for every fitness level here – participate in the competitive 10km race or the Army half-marathon if you’re up for it, or treat this as a leisurely, scenic morning workout in the non-competitive SAFRA 5km Fun Run category.
