Before we know it, March is just around the corner again – that’s a quarter of the year gone. And with all of us caught up in the hustle of our everyday lives, it’s no surprise if you’ve only just realised this now.
So take a breather from the daily grind and let yourself loose this weekend – there are music festivals, stand-up comedies, a dance party, and a yoga workshop in store for you to relax and recharge:
1. Garden Beats 2018

For those of you who love festivals, you’re in for a treat at Garden Beats 2018 – an annual electro-picnic festival that has famous DJ acts, art installations, games, and pop-up food stalls.
The main stage will see both international and local acts like Andhim, Youngr, Pomo, and .gif, where you can groove to unique “super house” beats, electronic pop, and haunting indie-electronic tunes.

Wooden art installations and garden games like sack racing and lawn bowling will also be present at the Social Field and Play Field, where you can roll out picnic mats to chill on when you need to rest your legs!
It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a picnic basket prepared as well, because crowd favourites such as Grain Traders and Fat Prince will be at the venue with delicious chow for you to refuel with.

Plus, as an added bonus, there’ll be an after party at Mao, with both free shuttle service and free entry!

Whether or not you’re an avid fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Kim Chi & Naomi Smalls are a comedy duo that you don’t want to miss, with lots of hilarious antics and sassy shade thrown around.
Great for a pick-me-up after a long week at work, their comedy and lip sync show (75 mins) will be performed in Singapore for the first time ever on 4th March. And on top of these two witty divas who were also part of the top 3 finalists in RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8, you can expect extra entertainment from special guest Lady Bunny – the legendary drag queen of improv and stand-up comedy!

Keep your ears peeled for homegrown talents Jack and Rai, who were behind the extremely catchy The Fa La La Song, as well as a special show by Monsta X if you’re into K-pop.

7. Japanese Film Festival

If you’re a movie buff, the Japanese Film Festival 2018 is the place to be this weekend. Back again after a year’s hiatus, the festival will be screening a wide variety of Japanese productions, most of which are underrated indie films.

The line-up includes feel-good film Survival Family by acclaimed director Yaguchi Shinobu, whose previous works include Swing Girls and Waterboys, black and white masterpiece Sansho The Bailiff, and the Japanese remake of the chilling thriller, Memoirs of A Murderer.
Even if you aren’t a film connoisseur, tickets to each flick are only at $13, and will be screened at the classy Gallery Theatre in the National Museum of Singapore – it’s a great change from the usual movie dates at a cinema!
