30 days, 300 hours, over $10k SGD earned. These numbers might sound pretty impossible to achieve for a private-hire driver, but this Grab driver in Singapore actually did it. Meet Aidil (@aidil.grind): he’s been a professional private-hire driver for about 4 years, and recently took it upon himself to embark on a “30 Day Grab Challenge”. The goal: to earn at least $10K SGD in total by the end of the 30 days.

Earning 4 to 5 figure sums for private-hire drivers is not totally unheard of, but for a Grab driver to accumulate over $10k of gross earnings in a relatively short timeline is quite a feat. So, how did Aidil do it? When he first started the challenge, his goal target was to hit at least $334 per day, in order to meet the intended $10k total. To do so, he worked all 30 days consecutively without taking any days off, clocking about 10 hours a day. On the days he needed more rest, he worked less hours, but made up by working longer hours on other days, sometimes working as much as 13 hours in a day.

On the weekends, Aidil’s work days ended at around 5.30am, while weekend workdays ended at 6am. During his shifts, his breaks included short trips to the nearest toilets and moments in between to stretch; as well as 1 main meal lasting about 45 minutes to an hour. He also took on an average of 21 to 27 jobs per day. His hard work definitely paid off, seeing as he did manage to earn a gross total of $10,050 SGD by Day 30. Barring some fixed monthly costs amounting to about $1900 ($1200 for his car installment and about $700 for petrol), his nett earnings for the “30 Day Grab Challenge” totalled $8150.

But why the grind? To Aidil, who was already on his own fitness and fat-loss journey, this “30 Day Grab Challenge” was just another way to push his limits, to test if he could really achieve it—and he did. For him, the challenge was more mental than physical, as he’s been driving since his NS days. The hardest part for Aidil was more about “not having the flexibility to take a full day off”, especially to spend time with his family; all for the sake of completing the challenge and hitting his daily targets.

Aidil’s entire “30 Day Grab Challenge” is documented through near-daily posts on his Instagram and TikTok accounts, in hopes to inspire other fellow Grab drivers through his journey. Aidil’s challenge has garnered much support from other drivers and netizens who felt encouraged by his hard work despite the struggles. For other drivers who are also interested in attempting a similar challenge, Aidil says that safety should always be the number one priority; and to always rest when they feel tired or sleepy. Ultimately, while income is important, such an extreme work schedule is not sustainable in the long-run. When asked if he would ever do another “30 Day Grab Challenge” in future, Aidil stays open; but for now, he’s happy with his current goal to simply stay healthy, fit, and earn as much as “reasonably possible”.
