@shout.sg Viral handmade mochi is now in Singapore! This is a famous mochi store from JB, and they’ve just opened their first outlet in Singapore with hand-stretched stuffed mochi balls from just $1.80! NUO MOCHI Address:Century Square, Level 3 (The Food Market by Food Junction), 2 Tampines Central 5, 529509
Nuo Mochi has opened a kiosk in Tampines, located within The Food Market at Century Square. Each individual mochi is handmade: hand-stretched, pressed and shaped to order, and instead of offering just the usual fruit or paste fillings, Nuo Mochi’s signature offerings include mochi balls stuffed with assorted nuts.

They’ve got 4 mainstays for their nut-stuffed mochi series: Pistachio Mix Golden Raisins ($3.80), Cashew Nut Nestum Cereal ($2.20), Hazelnut Mix Chocolate Ball ($3.20) and Peanut Mix Sesame Powder ($1.80). Each one is generously filled with their own housemade signature blend of nuts, and you can even make requests to customise your mochi if there are certain fillings you don’t want, like raisins for one.

We like how the fillings were super nutty and fragrant, but not overly sweet. Our favourite has got to be the Pistachio, with the Peanut Mix Sesame coming a close second. The taste reminds us of the traditional peanut muah chee, except with a modern twist—made with chewier mochi and much more peanut fillings. The mochi itself is also really soft, stretchy and chewy, with a natural green hue that comes from pandan. If you’re not a fan of nuts, they’ve also got seasonal specials that change daily, featuring other mochi fillings like Purple Sweet Potato Mix Strawberry ($4.20), Sesame Paste ($2.50), Red Bean Paste ($2.50) and more.

You can get the mochi balls individually from $1.80 each (with a minimum order of 2 pieces); or for more value, get their 4-piece box for $10. While the mochi can be kept at room temperature for up to 1 day, we would recommend eating them as soon as possible after purchase for the best taste, texture and freshness.
