10 AESTHETIC NEW CAFÉS TO TRY IN SINGAPORE THIS NOVEMBER 2023!

1. Marimekko

You might be familiar with this Finnish lifestyle brand, known for their bold and vibrant prints over all their apparel and home goods, but did you know they’ve also got a café concept? Marimekko recently opened their very first lifestyle concept store in Singapore, and it also has an in-house café!

True to the brand’s aesthetic, the café space features the iconic Unikko flower print on the furnishings, dishware, and even on some of their dessert items! Expect a selection of coffee, tea, cakes, entremets, tarts, savoury pastries and more from the menu like Mango Mousse Cake ($11.90), Fruits Galore Tart ($12.90) and Truffle Brie & Ham on Sourdough ($15.90), among others.

2. Fame Coffee

Occupying the same space that used to be Mellower Coffee is the newly-opened Fame Coffee, a spacious loft-inspired specialty coffee studio in Bugis. The café occupies a pretty big space—much bigger than your usual coffee places in Singapore, so there’s plenty of seating space to go around for you to relax and enjoy your cuppa.

Aside from classic coffee brews made with their own Fame blend of beans like Black ($5.50), Spanish Latte ($7), Iced Fame Latte ($8.50) and more, you can also try their exclusive Singapore Latte ($8.50) that’s topped with a creamy rose foam reminiscent of the iconic Bandung. They also have a selection of bake and pastries on rotation like brownies, croissants, tarts and others.

3. Madison’s

Tucked within the newly-opened Pullman Singapore Hill Street hotel is Madison’s a swanky New York-style café offering all-day American deli and brunch fare. The hotel itself is inspired by  old-school train travel, which you’ll also glimpse in the café’s decor: with classy dark tones and gold accents.

Highlights from the menu include comfort classics like Spammed and Scrambled ($28), Everything Benedict ($30), Madison’s Toss-Up ($24), Manhattan Chopped Salad ($22), Shrimp & Shrooms Grits ($32), The Empire State Burger ($34) and more. 4. Two Men Rice Bar

If you’re a bagel lover, you’d be no stranger to the cult-favourite bagel chain in Singapore, Two Men Bagel House. And if you’re a fan of the brand, you’ll definitely want to check out their latest concept: the Two Men Rice Bar, a novel standing café space! Instead of serving up their signature bagels, the Rice Bar will be doling out—you guessed it—rice bowls!

Located smack above Tanjong Pagar MRT at Guoco Tower, there are no seats available in the space, only standing tables for you to dine-in, or you can always have your bowls to-go. Rice options include Black Rock (from $17), Gumbo No.5 (from $18), Spam N’ Things (from $13), Mushy Mushy (from $12) and more.

Hailing from the land of coffee in Melbourne comes æ coffee, a specialty Aussie-specialty coffee joint in Tanjong Pagar! The minimalist white-centric takeaway coffee joint uses coffee blends from Axil Coffee, and you can get their seasonal blends in a bag as well to brew at home.

The menu is no-frills, sticking to only the coffee classics from a pocket-friendly $4 a cup. Expect the likes of White (from $5.50), Black (from $4.50), Batch Brew (from $4), Espresso ($4) and Chocolate (from $5.50), just to name a few.

6. Alchemist

Those working in the CBD area are spoilt for choice with coffee options, especially now that the crowd-favourite Alchemist coffee chain has just opened yet another outlet in the CBD! Located at Asia Square, this new outlet marks the brand’s 8th outlet in Singapore.

The new space boasts a gorgeous moody brick-red interior, with ultra high ceilings and curved silver countertops. Aside from their signature coffee drinks (from $3.50) like Black/White, Mocha, Pourovers, Batch Brews and more, you can also pair your brews with their selection of bakes like croissants, kouign amann and cruffins just to name a few.

7. Merci Marcel

Popular French-inspired café, Merci Marcel, has just opened their fourth and latest outlet in the East Coast, and it’s possibly their prettiest one yet! The East Coast outlet oozes sophisticated elegance, lush greenery, earthy tones and a gorgeous floor-to-ceiling bar.

8. Café Breath

This is a new Paris-inspired floral café in the CBD that’s perfect for romantic dates with your partner or bestie! The space is adorned with aesthetic hanging baby’s breath on the ceiling, neutral hues and marble furnishings.

9. Surrey Hills Grocer

Singapore’s popular Aussie-inspired café chain, Surrey Hills Grocer has just opened their latest outlet at The Woodleigh Mall, and unlike their other outlets, this one’s a little more special! They’ve brought in some of the most iconic pancake stacks straight from Melbourne’s very own cult-favourite pancake chain, The Pancake Parlour, exclusive to this outlet!

10. bommoi

Not a fan of books? You might change your mind once you visit bommoi, an adorable Korean picture book café hidden in the City Hall area with zen vibes, in-house café, poetry reading sessions and more! This unique book café has a traditional hanok-style area with “floor seating”, featuring slightly raised platforms and cushions for you to sit on instead of the usual tables and chairs.
