1. Glass Roasters

This popular coffee spot has opened its third outlet in Singapore, this time in a charming back alley lane in the quaint Tiong Bahru area! The quiet space is hidden quite a ways away from the bustling crowd, perfect if you’re looking for an intimate and cosy coffee spot. The space has very limited indoor seating, but if you’re game to brave the heat, there are also a couple of outdoor seats located in the alleyway—super vibey indeed.

Glass Roasters is known for their specialty coffee brews, from classics to more unique offerings like Macadamia Latte ($6.50), Chai Oat ($7), Yuan Yang Earl Grey ($8.50) and more. They also have a selection of bakes like croissants, shokupan toasts, tarts and madeleines from the display.

2. Common Man Coffee Roasters

Common Man is yet another chain that’s known among coffee lovers, and they’ve opened a brand new space nestled within a beautiful conserved colonial shophouse at Anchorpoint. The café sits in a standalone building just opposite IKEA at Alexandra, and boasts a spacious interior with lots of seating, plus gorgeous retro touches of green and tiled flooring.

Along with the opening of the new outlet, Common Man also presents new menu dishes in addition to their regular offerings. Highlights include the Conti Sandwich ($29), Grilled Veggie Salad ($27) and Kouign Amann Toast ($25), just to name a couple. If you’re down for a little boozy brunch, try their selection of natural wines thoughtfully curated by Drunken Farmer.

3. Hello Arigato

Following their recent opening at Everton Park, this popular café has opened yet another outlet at Bukit Timah (their 4th outlet in Singapore)! This time, Hello Arigato is switching things up, and their latest space is not only their biggest yet, but it’s also a 2-storey space that includes both indoor and outdoor seating, with a café on the first floor and a dessert bar upstairs.

If you’re a fan of their popular sandos, you can look forward to brand new sando fillings: like the Wagyu Hamburg Gyu Sando ($28), Red Curry Kani Sando ($20), Yakiniku Gyu Sando ($20) and Chicken Katsu Sando ($16). There will also be new outlet-exclusive menu items including Hokkaido Milk Carbonara ($22) and Crispy Brussel Sprouts ($14). 4. Café Monochrome

[New] Cafe Monochrome opens a 2nd branch in Chinatown

You might be familiar with Café Monochrome, Singapore’s first 2D café with a quirky black and white “hand-drawn” interior that looks like something out of a comic book. Following their first outlet, they’ve opened another 2D space in Chinatown, this time with a modern oriental vibe! The design of the space is all sketched by hand from scratch, making every corner super IG-worthy.

The new outlet also serves a couple of new menu items that are unlike the first, including Tonkatsu Burger ($22), Crayfish Pasta ($22) and pizzas in various flavours like The Oriental ($23), Ragu ($23) and Ortolona ($22). As an opening special, Café Monochrome will also be offering a 1-for-1 deal on their pastas, coffees and teas from now till 13th August 2023.

5. All Day Café

Located in One Raffles Place, All Day is a new brunch spot in the CBD with European-inspired brunch eats and pastries. The space looks like something out of the streets of Paris or Europe, with a pretty “al fresco” vibe, but fully indoors and air-conditioned for your comfort. If you’re coming early in the day, you can Design Your Own Breakfast from $4, or opt for one of their specialty crêpes in flavours like Salmon Gravlax ($18.50) and Pork ($16).

6. Double Shot Coffee

The popular coffee spot in the CBD has opened a second outlet at the quaint Kampong Bahru area, boasting a cosy and rustic interior with warm woody tones, limited seats and standing area indoors and a little outdoor bench. Double Shot places emphasis on coffee, especially serving up quality, single-origin brews.

True to their name, all coffee brews are served with a double shot of espresso, using specialty beans like Elias Maria (Brazil), Letty Bermudez (Columbia), Shoondhisa (Ethiopia), Grapos Organic Decaf (Mexico) and more. You won’t find much in terms of food here, but they do serve a small selection of bakes from their display, including croissants and pain au chocolat.

The famous ice cream chain from New York City finally opens its first outlet here in Singapore, bringing you their iconic ice cream flavours made the French way. The new ice cream joint is located at Orchard Central, with a vibrant and colourful interior. Van Leeuwen’s ice creams are made with double the yolks, resulting in a thick gelato-like ice cream texture that’s ultra creamy and rich.

They’re also known for using all-natural ingredients sourced from artisans, with various classic flavours like Sicilian Pistachio, Mint Chip, Earl Grey, Honeycomb, Praline Butter Cake and more. Scoops start at $6.50 each, and you can get them in a regular cone, freshly-made waffle cone or cup; and feel free to add your favourite toppings! They also offer milkshakes (from $13) that are churned with scoops of ice cream, or Root Beer Float (from $9).

Been looking for a thrift store catered just for the boys? Look no further than uptown., a swanky new vintage consignment store slash café space that’s tailored specifically for mens streetwear! Say goodbye to sitting and waiting at “the boyfriend chair”, this one’s all for you boys. The space itself is super aesthetic, with a rustic and vintage-inspired industrial vibe, white brick walls, brown hues and gold accents.v
