8 NEW CAFÉS TO VISIT THIS JANUARY 2023!

1. Ri Ri Cha

This new teahouse and ice cream café in Chinatown is opened by the same folks behind The Better Scoop, and is the perfect place to hit up this Chinese New Year season, especially with their unique local-inspired treats like their chewy Nian Gao Waffles (from $6.80) and Pi Pa Gao Latte ($7). The café has a cosy Scandinavian-inspired interior, and specialises in teas and tea-centric ice cream flavours.

You can also expect some pretty unique presentations here, with ice cream scoops served in mini dim sum baskets, as well as the Tiktok-viral ice cream wrapped in mochi skin. Ice cream scoops (from $5.50) come in unique flavours such as Corn Silk Tea, Matcha Butterfly Pea Soy, Longan Red Dates, Da Hong Pao Pineapple, Roselle Smoked Plum, Pi Pa Gao Mint and more!

2. TAG Espresso

If you’re a coffee connoisseur who enjoys brewing your own coffee at home, you might be familiar with TAG Espresso: a unique coffee capsule brand with various unique flavours so you can create café-worthy brews that are quick and delicious, all in the comfort of your own home! 3. %Arabica at Marina Bay Sands

The world-famous coffee chain is set to open a brand new outlet in Singapore’s iconic Marina Bay Sands (MBS) by the end of January 2023! The new outlet will be a takeaway-only joint, and fans of the brand can look forward to some of their classic drinks, alongside some pastries as well.

No news yet on how the new outlet at MBS is going to look like, but we’d expect that %Arabica will be staying true to their clean, white-centric aesthetic for a sleek and minimalistic look! The MBS outlet will mark the brand’s 6th outlet in Singapore, and will also offer some exclusive merchandise for you to shop!

4. Mooi Pâtisserie

Tucked away in The Hub at Alexandra Technopark is a new patisserie: Mooi, boasting some of the most beautifully done pastries to satisfy any sweet tooth. Helmed by head pastry chef, Gail Ho, who has stints at Michelin-starred Meta Restaurant under her belt, you can be sure that Mooi’s pastries are of the utmost quality.

Think treats like the Pistachio Tart ($14), Moksha ($12), Chocolate Brioche ($6.80), Pecan Dulcey Blondie ($5), Chestnut Honey Madeleine ($4) and more. 5. Tiong Bahru Bakery at Joo Chiat

Easties are in for a treat: your favourite neighbourhood bakery has opened yet another outlet, this time in the rich and bustling Joo Chiat area! The new TBB outlet is located at Crane Road boasting an all-day dining menu that’s perfect for a hearty weekend brunch.

Look forward to a warm and homey ambiance, as well as both indoor and outdoor seating. Aside from TBB’s classic pastries and coffee, highlights from the menu also include the likes of Breakfast Croffle ($22), Soldier Stack ($12), Cluckin’ Amazin’ Burger ($22), Easy Cheesy ($22) and more!

6. First Story

First Story is a café by popular social enterprise coffee brand, Foreword Coffee Roasters, and is the brand’s very first flagship café concept. What makes First Story so special is the fact that they hire individuals with special needs, disabilities and mental health issues as employees.

The minimalist Scandinavian-inspired café offers a small selection of all-day brunch items like Smoked Salmon ($12.90), First Story Breakfast ($12.90) and Pulled Beef Gochujang Rice Bowl ($11.90) and more. They also have desserts and ice cream like Belgian Waffles (from $6) and ice cream scoops.

7. Starbucks at Jurong Lake Gardens

This is definitely the most scenic and aesthetic Starbucks outlet in Singapore: located at Jurong Lake Gardens, the latest glasshouse-esque outlet is the perfect place to chill and unwind after taking a leisurely stroll around the gardens.

The Starbucks at Jurong Lake Gardens is super spacious, with high ceilings and clear floor-to-ceiling windows that let in lots of natural sunlight for a gorgeous sun-bathed coffee or brunch affair in the afternoons. 8. Cafe USAGI

Popular modern Japanese café from Tokyo has finally landed in Singapore with its first outlet opening at Suntec City! Cafe USAGI specialises in authentic Japanese matcha, with a super clean and zen-like wood interior complete with rattan furniture. Here, you’ll also find the viral mochi ice cream, made with USAGI’s own handmade mochi skin.

Ice cream flavours include the likes of Lavender Hojicha, Samurai Blue Sea Salt, Honkaku Uji Matcha, Rich Chocolate, Hokkaido Milk & Vanilla and more.
