Firefly garden in Singapore?! Not exactly, but close enough: there’s a new, magical firefly-inspired light show happening this weekend at Gardens by the Bay, and entrance is free for all.
The world-renowned SPARK is created by Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde, and it’s making its first-ever Southeast Asian debut right here in Singapore for just 3 days only. The immersive light experience is meant to resemble “floating” sparks in the sky, and having experienced it ourselves, we’ve got to say it’s pretty enchanting to look at. If you look a little closer, you’ll find that the spectacle is actually created by thousands of “glowing” bubbles illuminated by various hues of light projected in the night sky.
With the Supertrees and Marina Bay Sands as a backdrop, the effect created really does resemble fireflies flying in the dark. We also appreciate how bio-degradable, non-toxic bubbles are used here, so you don’t have to worry about all that soapy stickiness as the bubbles pop. Entrance to the SPARK light show is free for all, and will be happening at the Supertree Grove Lawn on the following dates:

In celebration of SG60, Gardens by the Bay is also bringing a new Orchid Extravaganza to the Flower Dome. Taking centrestage is a 6.5-metre tall “Supertree” tower that’s made out of various orchids. You can even enter the “Supertree” itself and gaze up at all the orchids that surround you. The entire orchid display features over 6000 beautiful orchids to explore, with stunning orchid arches, rare varieties and more.
The display also pays homage to Singapore’s Peranakan culture, and you’ll be able to walk-though replicas of classic Nyonya houses and explore a kebaya gallery. There will also be plenty of photo spots where you can spot various iconic Nyonya elements: from kuehs, decor pieces, colourful dishware and old-school furniture, among others. The Orchid Extravaganza will be happening from now till 31st August 2025, and admission to the Flower Dome applies (from $12 per adult).
