Love snails (and escargots)? The first and only snail farm in Singapore is now open to the public, with specialised tours of the farm, petting and feeding opportunities and even ready-to-eat snails!
WholeSnail is the first-of-its-kind indoor commercial snail farm, and they’re experts on everything snail-related. All the snails raised at WholeSnail are of the European Garden Snail variety, specifically a larger Cornu aspersum maxima species, and the smaller Cornu aspersum aspersum species. The facility specialises in heliciculture, or controlled snail farming and taking care of the full life cycle of the snail: from growing and feeding snails, harvesting snail slime, producing ready-to-eat snails, and even using snail shells for arts & craft workshops.
For snail enthusiasts, the farm is also open to the public for guided tours. The 1-hour Snail Safari Experience is priced at $25 per person, and features various hands-on activities and an in-depth exploration of the farm’s offerings. The discovery tour includes:
- Introduction to WholeSnail
- Exploring snails at every stage of life (from babies to adulthood)
- Tour of the sustainable snail farming facilities
- Access to the snail petting zone
You also have the option of adding on additional hands-on workshops (at an extra charge) like snail shell painting, DIY snail-themed shirt or tote bag, mix-your-own snail feed and even snail house building.
In case you’re not familiar with snail meat—yes, you can actually eat snails—WholeSnail will also be offering ready-to-eat snails, more commonly known as escargot. WholeSnail’s premium, sustainably-farmed escargot are all grown locally under strictly controlled conditions and with clean feed; so escargot lovers can be assured of the quality and cleanliness of their snails, when cooked properly, of course.
