CAVERN RESTAURANT: SINGAPORE’S FIRST & ONLY CAVE-INSPIRED RESTAURANT WITH DISHES FROM $10!

The next time your partner asks for a unique date, here’s where you should take them—Singapore’s first and only cave-inspired restaurant where you get to experience dining in a cave setting!

Singapore has no shortage of unique dining experiences, but the new Cavern Restaurant is definitely one of the most unconventional dining spots there are. This latest addition to the F&B scene is located within The Cavern section of the soon-to-be-opened Rainforest Wild Asia. And before you ask—no, unfortunately the restaurant isn’t located within a real cave; but the cavernous interior of the restaurant itself is inspired by the actual Mulu caves in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Let’s talk about the space: for a “restaurant in a cave” experience, we’d say they’ve done a pretty good job in replicating and mimicking the natural cave vibes. You’re surrounded by textured walls and irregular ceilings that make you feel almost like you’re dining in an underground chamber—in a cave, if you will. The space is also very dimly lit with warm crystalline lights, kind of like the stalactites or dripstone formations you’ll find in actual caves.

Ironstrike Knuckle ($28)

Caveman’s Meat Skewer ($38)

Smouldering Core ($20)

For food, the restaurant serves Western fusion and international fare, with dishes starting from $10 and mains from $20. Meat lovers will enjoy mains like the Ironstrike Knuckle ($28) or Caveman’s Meat Skewer ($38), the former is a giant braised pork knuckle in a bed of mustard jus, while the latter features a massive tenderloin beef skewer. Out of the two, our favourite is definitely the tenderloin beef skewer: you get pretty good value for the price with 200g of beef that’s cooked to tender and smoky perfection.

Stone Hearth Loaf ($12)

Spicy Wing ($16)

Emerald Canopy ($12)

Crystal Cave Salad ($22)

Pulled Pork Taco ($22)

Forest Mushroom ($12)

They’ve also got plenty of sides and small plates you can share: the Stone Hearth Loaf ($12) makes for a good sharing appetiser, served warm with a crispy exterior and soft, fluffy inside, paired with creamy salted butter. The Pulled Pork Taco ($22) was also a favourite at the table, filled with juicy pork and a flavourful spicy smoked paprika aioli.

Balinese Dark Chocolate Tart ($18)

Pandan Bambolini ($6)

Durian with Soft Serve Ice Cream ($12)

Make sure to save some space for dessert: they’ve got local-inspired Pandan Bambolini ($6) that’s stuffed with kaya filling, but we would recommend going straight for the Durian with Soft Serve Ice Cream ($12), especially if you’re a fan of durian. The ice cream comes with a generous serving of durian purée and is topped with crunchy freeze-dried durian crumbles. We loved how strong the durian flavour is, and the ice cream itself almost had a chewy texture because of all the fresh durian purée inside—truly a delight.

If you’re looking for a truly one-of-a-kind dining spot that’s sure to impress, this is the place to be. Prices here are pretty accessible too, comparable to some upscale café or middle-range restaurants in Singapore; plus you get a novel dining experience that you won’t find anywhere else in Singapore. While the cave is man-made, we like how you get the cave experience without any of the natural downsides of an actual cave, like the humidity, smell or water droplets while you eat—which is definitely a plus.

One thing to note though, the lighting is intentionally kept pretty dim to mimic the actual caves, so you might not be able to see your food (or your dining companions) super clearly, which could be a downside, or also add to the romantic and intimate ambience. The Cavern Restaurant officially opens to the public from 12th March 2025 onwards, and you don’t need to have a ticket to Rainforest Wild Asia to dine here.
