There’s been plenty of buzzy new openings from Japan in Singapore of late: from the arrival of Kichi Kichi Omurice, to the upcoming spicy ramen from Kikanbo. This September, foodies and steak lovers can look forward to yet another exciting opening: Japan’s famed wagyu steakhouse, Nikuya Tanaka, will also be making its debut here!

Dubbed as Japan’s “No.1 steak restaurant”, Nikuya Tanaka is a globally renowned establishment helmed by a family with 80 years of experience in the beef industry. The name is known all over the world, ranking at No.27 amongst the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants. Nikuya Tanaka’s focus is on one of the rarest beef cuts there is: high-grade, purebred Tajima Wagyu from Kobe, Omi or Matsusaka. Tajima Wagyu is prized for their intense marbling; and at Nikuya Tanaka, the beef is prepared with minimalist techniques of binchotan charcoal grilling to enhance the natural taste of the wagyu itself.

The Singapore restaurant will offer an intimate kappo-style omakase experience with a 10-seat counter and private dining room. Some menu items you can expect include beef tataki, Kobe wagyu steak and chilled noodles in beef consommé served in hand-carved ice bowls. Nikuya Tanaka will be opening in Singapore on 22nd September 2025.
