You’ve heard the news, and finally it’s time to taste the goods: Kyoto’s famed Kichi Kichi Omurice is now in Singapore (well, sort of), and here’s your first look at what you can expect on the menu.

ICYMI, Kichi Kichi Omurice’s Chef Motokichi Yukimura is now in Singapore to launch a brand new collaboration menu with Tsukimi Hamburg, a popular Japanese hamburg specialty restaurant chain in Singapore. This Singapore-exclusive menu created by Chef Motokichi will be available to order permanently at all Tsukimi Hamburg outlets in Singapore from 10th July 2025 onwards. There are 2 new menu items to expect: Kichi Kichi Hamburg Omurice ($16.80) and Kichi Kichi Omurice ($12.80).

Both dishes are essentially identical: fried rice blanketed with a “tornado”-style omelette, the only difference is if you want a hamburg patty on top of your omurice or not. Each set also comes served with a side of salad, pickles and egg drop soup. The fried rice recipe and demi-glace sauce used for the new menu items are also exactly the same as the one served at Kichi Kichi Omurice in Kyoto, so you’ll be able to get a taste of the original right here in Singapore, anytime you want.

The demi-glace-infused fried rice was already super savoury and tasty by itself, and was extra umami thanks to the addition of shiitake mushrooms. The semi-runny “tornado” omelette was also ultra fluffy, and minimally seasoned with just salt. Do note that the demi-glace sauce itself is actually pretty salty, so you might want to taste as you go and add the sauce slowly or risk your omurice being too tasty. The verdict: it’s definitely a hearty and satisfying omurice meal, though we probably wouldn’t queue hours for it. Price-wise, $16.80 for a complete set meal topped with a meat patty is quite the steal, especially for a recipe created by Kichi Kichi Omurice’s Chef Motokichi himself.

Chef Motokichi Yukimura himself will be in town from 11th to 12th July 2025 for exclusive meet & greets and live cooking demonstrations. Unfortunately, ticket giveaways for the dining experience with Chef Motokichi Yukimura are all sold out—but here’s to hoping he’ll return to Singapore for another pop-up event sooner rather than later. In the meantime, you can watch Chef Motokichi live in action on 12th July 2025 via Instagram at @foodforlife.res or in person at Tsukimi Hamburg Jurong Point from 4pm to 5pm. While you won’t be able to try Chef Motokichi’s iconic “avalanche” omurice—you’ll have to go to Kyoto for that—the new collaboration dishes give you a pretty close taste of the OG, and are definitely worth a try if you’re in the area.
