Yet another viral treat is coming to Singapore shores, and this time it’s the famous “sandwich cookie” from Japanese brand, Press Butter Sand! The brand has gathered quite a cult-following, and is definitely one of the treats travellers to Japan will bring home from their trip. Press Butter Sand has over 30 outlets across Japan, Korea and Hong Kong, and this marks their very first foray into Singapore.

Press Butter Sand’s Singapore outlet will operate as a takeaway kiosk at Takashimaya’s Basement 2 Food Hall. for those who aren’t familiar with the brand, their signature item is their Butter Sand Cookies, unique square-shaped cookies that are “pressed” together using iron griddles, with a double layer of Hokkaido buttercream and other assorted fillings sandwiched in between. The result: an evenly crispy cookie exterior and oozy, fluffy fillings.

The full flavour line-up for Singapore has yet to be released, but you can expect the likes of Original, Strawberry, Pistachio, Matcha, Black and more. Since the cookies are shipped directly from Japan, you can expect higher prices as compared to buying from Japan stores yourself. The complete price list for Singapore is not available yet, but a box of 5 cookies starts from $22.50, which works out to about $4.50 per cookie.
