FIRST-EVER JEJU-STYLE ULTRA LONG FISH & SEAFOOD HOT POT IN SINGAPORE!

If you’ve been to Jeju before, you’re probably no stranger to the ultra long hairtail fish dish that’s been seen all over social media and in your Kdramas for its striking visuals. The good news is: now you don’t have to travel all the way to Jeju to try this famous dish—you can get it right here in Singapore!

Known as galchi in Korean, or beltfish, this ultra long silver-hued dish is one of Jeju’s specialty dishes that’s definitely a must try when you’re on the island. The dish is usually served in a long rectangular pot and braised in a spicy stew along with other vegetables, mushrooms and seafood items.

Spicy Seafood Long Pot, $198++

Hana Restaurant is a Tsukiji fish market-inspired Japanese restaurant in Orchard, and they’re the first in Singapore to bring in this viral Jeju-inspired dish using specially imported Japanese tachiuo or beltfish/cutlass. The prized fish is served as part of a premium Spicy Seafood Long Pot ($198++), and is probably the longest ever hotpot we’ve seen in Singapore!

The entire 3ft long hotpot can feed around 5 to 6 people and is chock full of ingredients including assorted vegetables and seafood cooked in a piquant spicy broth. The silver beltfish itself is about 2ft long, or 60cm and resembles a long silver sword or belt—hence the name. The hotpot also comes with other seafood like octopus, baby octopus, abalone, scallops, prawns and squid, weighing about 2.5kg in total.

Texture wise: the fish is pretty tender and flaky, easy to break apart in the hot soup. We also like how the soft fish soaks up the tasty and addictive broth—just be careful while eating as the fish contains lots of fine bones! Seafood lovers will also love the ample seafood choices included in the pot, and our favourites were definitely the chunky octopus and whole abalones.

This massive dish would be perfect to share with friends or family on a cold rainy day! Hana’s new Spicy Seafood Long Pot ($198++) is available in limited quantities and you’ll have to place a pre-order with the restaurant at least 1 day before.
