Nestled within one of innumerable iconic blue and red heritage shophouses along Jalan Besar, the all-new ASYLUM Coffeehouse intends to serve as a home away from home, for guests seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Set to officially open on 18th May 2021, the café showcases a spacious, open concept with minimal indoor seating options beyond a central island bordered by wooden bar stools.
Designed to facilitate easy communication with the baristas and staff, guests of ASYLUM Coffeehouse can expect to see the café’s unique Espresso blend, known as Keluak, and a variety of other weekly, limited edition specialty beans for pour-overs, on the menu. Characterised by dominant chocolate, nutty and earthy notes, the Keluak was inspired by the Peranakan dish Buah Keluak, and is expected to pair effortlessly with the brand’s signature Sugee cake made from almonds and rum, topped off with a torched Italian meringue.
Additionally, the creators of Singapore’s hottest burger hawker, Hambaobao will be serving up two signature sandwiches. The Turfoieken is exactly what it sounds like, turkey, foie gras and chicken wrapped in a beautiful sourdough with homemade aioli and apple chutney. On the other hand, the Cubano made with Ciabatta, homemade Mojo Pulled pork, gherkins, swiss cheese, and mustard, is set to be a crowd pleaser thanks to its firmly pressed crust and mouth-watering juiciness!
