GUIDE TO TAKASHIMAYA’S FOOD FIESTA 2023: TOP HIGHLIGHTS & MUST-EAT FOOD & DRINKS!

No plans for the weekend? We know exactly where you should go for some good eats and sips! Takashimaya’s popular Food Fiesta is back this year till 17th July 2023, so this is the last weekend you can catch it before it’s gone again! This year’s edition boasts over 50 different brands, offering anything from local eats, international treats, sweets, drinks and more!

Don’t have time to check out all the stalls? Not to worry, we’re here to do the legwork so you don’t have to. After scoping the whole area ourselves, we’ve gathered some of the most unique and must-try food items. Here are the top 5 food items you’ve got to try at the fiesta:

1. Spaceship Burger

If you’re familiar with the viral “UFO Burger” from Korea, you’re going to want to try this. Inspired by the original “UFO Burger”, these spaceship-shaped burgers are stuffed with fillings, and sealed tightly shut so you won’t have to worry about spilling or making a mess.

Spaceship Burger offers 2 versions of the burger: the Spaceship Kimchi Burger ($10) and the Spaceship Beef Burger ($13). For more details on this novel burger, see our full article here

2. Mochi Dango Skewers

The mochi craze is far from over, and we’re seeing yet another mochi creation by none other than Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery. Sourbombe is debuting these Dango Bombes ($4 per stick, $10 for 3 sticks) at the fiesta, and we don’t know if they’ll be added to the permanent menu so this might be your only chance to try them!

The chewy mini mochi balls come in 4 flavours: Ichigo Milk Pistachio, Genmaicha Sea Salt, Blackberry Citrus and Chocolate Hazelnut Crush. Sourbombe will also be offering their signature bombolinis, as well as matcha soft serve.

3. Jumbo Grilled Seafood

Seafood lovers are going to be spoilt for choice, with plenty of seafood options from grilled and torched items to giant skewers. Taste the original crab flavour with an entire Hokkaido Grilled Crab Leg ($12), or go for one of the jumbo seafood skewers (from $6.80), with options like scallops, octopus legs, king crab and more.

These seafood skewers also come topped with various sauces like mayo and mentaiko, that are beautifully torched for that amazing smoky flavour that we love.

4. Chunky Stuffed Waffles

The popular iWaffle is back, known for their crisp waffle “sandos” stuffed with various fillings and cream. You can get them plain, or with basic single flavours like Chocolate ($5.50), Matcha ($5.50) or Whip ($5.50).

More unique flavour options include Red Bean & Chestnuts ($6.50), Caramel Machiato ($6.50), Custard & Sweet Potato ($6.50), Rum Raisin ($6.50), Maple Almond ($6.50), Chocolate Pistachio ($7.50) and more.

5. Bird’s Nest Capsule Drinks

If you need a refreshing respite, head to Bliss Nest Capsules (BNC) for one of their unique bird’s nest capsule-infused bubble tea drinks, such as Pink Lemonade & Fragrance Lemon ($6), Manuka Honey ($6), Mango Milk Jelly ($8), Pink Lemon Oolong Tea ($7.80) and more.

They’re also known for their travel-friendly bird’s nest capsules that come in various flavours, and are enriched with nutrients like collagen, Korean ginseng and Vitamin C, among others. There’s even a super unique mala-flavoured bird’s nest capsule!

We’ve just scratched the surface on what you can expect at the Food Fiesta, and there’s plenty more for you to discover for yourself. Eat, drink and shop your way through all the other food kiosks offering fried goodies, Taiwanese snacks, Japanese confectionery, imported alcohol, artisanal tea, wagyu beef and much more!
