Cafés in JB have really been upping their game lately, with vibey aesthetics that belong on the ‘gram. If you’re looking for a new, aesthetic café to hit up on your next JB trip, head down to Palates & Bagels, located just 15 minutes away from the checkpoint!
The café boasts rustic loft-style vibes, with a beautiful and moody vintage interior. The space is adorned in muted brown and grey tones with dim lighting, high ceilings, along with exposed and raw brick walls. You’ll even find some vintage “antique” items like retro salon chairs, telephone, typewriter and more to add to the nostalgic ambience!

Of course, as the name suggests, bagels are the star of the menu, and you can get freshly baked bagels from just RM 6 each (~$1.70 SGD), with various flavours available daily. You can also choose from their range of savoury-filled bagels: Ah Seng (RM 30), Ali (RM 19), Louis (RM 34) and more.
If bagels aren’t your thing, you can always get their toasts, or other brunch items and snacks like Unagi Rice Bowl (RM 28), Truffle Mushroom Pasta (RM 38) and Korean Style Fried Chicken (RM 22), just to name a couple. They’ve also got a selection of signature specialty drinks, coffee and tea.
