POPULAR PASTEL PINK-THEMED CAFÉ IN EVERTON PARK HAS UNIQUE CHUNKY TOMATO-SHAPED & COOKIE-CRUSTED DESSERT BAGELS!

Everton Park is a treasure trove of cafés and hidden gems, and one of them is The Flour Department, a popular patisserie known for their novel and innovative treats. Previously, only takeaways were allowed, but with The Flour Department’s new location at Everton Park, you can enjoy their treats fresh in their cosy pastel pink-themed dine-in space!

The Flour Department is loved for their bakes that change up every month or so, and some of their most popular items include their unique bagel creations that are unlike many of the other bagels we see in Singapore. These include savoury bagels that are shaped like a giant tomato, and chunky dessert bagels stuffed with ingredients like tang yuan and even basque cheesecake!

Japanese Chicken Katsu Bagel Sando, $15

One of the most striking from the selection is the Japanese Chicken Katsu Bagel Sando ($15) that resembles an actual tomato with its red hue and green “leaves”. The bagel is made to order and served hot, stuffed with curry potato, crispy chicken katsu, cheese and creamy scrambled eggs. There’s no actual tomato taste to the bagel, and we’re told that the inspiration behind its novel shape were the iconic vegetable-shaped breads from the viral Korean Bakery 1946 pop-up in Singapore!

Savoury bagel lovers will definitely enjoy this, and the combination of all the ingredients is reminiscent of a comforting plate of Japanese curry rice. It’s a super chonky one though: and quite difficult to eat like a burger, so we suggest cutting it up into halves or quarters to eat!

Matcha Cookies Bagel Sando, $14

Another best-seller is the Matcha Cookies Bagel Sando ($14) with a matcha melon pan “cookie” crusted top—the first ever in Singapore! This bagel is super decadent, piled with a slice of velvety burnt basque cheesecake, matcha cream and French pistachio praline. We especially love how rich and nutty the homemade pistachio praline is, and the sweetness from the praline is balanced nicely by the bitterness of the matcha and slight tanginess of the cheesecake.

Matcha Strawberry Mochi Bagel Sando, $13.50

Black Sesame Tangyuan Strawberry Peanut Butter Bagel, $14

Mochi lovers will also love the other bagels on the menu: including the Matcha Strawberry Mochi Bagel Sando ($13.50) that contains matcha mochi chunks and the Black Sesame Tangyuan Strawberry Peanut Butter Bagel ($14) that has actual whole tang yuan balls inside!

Bagel flavours will be rotated every month or so, but mainstays include the Japanese Chicken Katsu Bagel Sando, Matcha Cookies Bagel Sando and Matcha Strawberry Mochi Bagel Sando. We also recommend making a pre-order before heading down, as popular flavours tend to sell out early in the afternoon! To browse their current offerings, see here
