Explore the wonders of the deep blue sea with this year’s edition of i Light Singapore: A New Wave. This year’s sustainable light festival is all about the ocean, allowing visitors to visually imagine and see the irreparable impact human exploits have on the underwater world.

ilightsingapore is back for another run this June 2023! This year’s theme is Lightwave: Turning the Tide, and features gorgeous ocean-themed artworks and interactive installations! Aside from plenty of IG-worthy spots, visitors can look forward to immersive installations, larger-than-life “aquariums”, “dancing” light projections, interactive artworks, thought-provoking multi-sensorial experiences and more. Most of the event is free, with some ticketed sections priced at $5 per person.

2. GastroBeats

If you’re heading to i Light, make sure to stop by and check out GastroBeats as well, a month-long music, food and play festival that’ll be ongoing from now till 25th June 2023! Entry to the festival is free, and there will be over 50 food and retail vendors to look forward to, including Taiwanese street food, tacos, hot pot in a bucket, Carlsberg beer stations and more.

There will also be live music acts lined up to entertain you as you feast, from indie bands and DJ sets. There will even be various games and activities to participate in, plus a giant bouncy castle that’s sure to delight your inner child!

3. Marvel Pop-Up at Jewel Changi Airport

Marvel fans assemble! There’s a new Avengers-themed pop-up at Jewel Changi Airport with photo ops and even a special light show! Avengers: Beyond Earth’s Mightiest at Jewel features a 2-minute long Avengers-inspired Light & Sound show where you can catch some of your favourite Avengers projected onto the Rain Vortex!

There will also be various Marvel backdrops and photo spots with super-sized icons like Captain America’s shield, Thor’s hammer, Iron Man; plus interactive activities as well! For more details on what to expect at the Marvel pop-up, see here

4. Silent Disco Full Moon Party

The Silent Disco Asia is back in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck from this June onwards! This revolutionary dance party sees three DJs, each spinning different styles of music. Don the customised headphones and dance the night away, switching between different channels and jamming to your favourite songs. 

Styles of music include groovy disco, EDM, rock and beyond. You’ll even get to see a sea of headsets light up the dance floor in an array of green, blue and red lights—very much like an actual club atmosphere but without the deafening noise. Tickets start from $38 per person and you can get them here.

5. Flipside Festival

This 10-day arts and entertainment festival at Esplanade boasts a host of fun and playful activities, including whimsical circus acts, comedy shows, theatre and puppetry performances! Look forward to international artists from seven countries performing alongside our very own local talents. Highlights to look out for include two puppetry shows: Chimpanzee and Famous Puppet Death Scenes, and you’ll even get to see roving life-sized “Seagulls” roaming around the area! 

Another new addition to the festival is the Circus Open Stage where you get to see circus acts performing feats up close! 6. Authentic Flamenco

Coming to Singapore straight from the Royal Opera of Madrid in Spain is Authentic Flamenco. Like the name suggests, enjoy a truly authentic flamenco performance with talented Spanish dancers and musicians. You’ll also be able to catch the famous Paula Rodríguez in her element, one of the most highly sought-after flamenco dancers in Spain!

For those who aren’t familiar with the style of flamenco: it’s a passionate and emotive dance accompanied by dramatic and soulful music, coupled with clicking castanets and stunning ruffled costumes. 7. NARUTO TV Animation 20th Anniversary Exhibition

The iconic anime celebrates its 20th Anniversary with a highly-anticipated exhibition bringing to life some of the fan-favourite scenes from the movies! Fans can look forward to 8 different 3D sets replicating memorable scenes for you to take IG photos at.

8. Rose Romance

Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome gets a refresh with the Queen of Flowers this June and July 2023 with Rose Romance! In collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Singapore, this gorgeous rose-centric floral display highlights the beauty and romantic charm of the idyllic Puglia region.

10. Now Boarding: Experiencing Singapore through Travel, 1800s-2000s

Now that travel is back in full swing, what better way to discover how travelling in Singapore was like in the good ol’ days than with an immersive travel-themed exhibition? Now Boarding is the latest installation at National Museum of Singapore, where you can see some of the most iconic and vintage things, all related to travel!

Highlights include the nostalgic analogue flipboard that used to be displayed at Changi Airport, vintage SIA suites cabin seats from the A380, a collection of past MRT cards, old school signages from some of Singapore’s iconic places and more! There are also interactive elements like a “discotheque”, games and even a free postal service!
