1. Baybeats Music Festival

The annual alternative music festival is back again! Be prepared to get blown away by this year’s eclectic line-up featuring prominent local, regional and international acts. Familiar home-grown faces include Plainsunset, soulful singer-songwriter Nicholas Chin and pop-rock band The Summer State. Apart from these prominent, chart-topping veterans, emerging acts like Disco Hue and The Little Giant will also be gracing the stage this year. Australian indie band The Dirt Radicals will be flying all the way here from down under, so be sure to check them out too. Gather your flock, grab some food and have a chill night out with good music by the bay. It is totally free by the way – you have no excuses.

2. MINT Carnival

One can never be too old for traditional carnival games we fondly grew up with. Head down to the inaugural MINT carnival this weekend for a nostalgic, fun-filled day of old school carnival games, craft activities and food. Coupons are sold in sets of 10 and exchangeable for all food and activities at the event, so purchase yours online to beat the queues.

3. NParks Concert Series in the Park: Rockestra

You’re in for a major throwback at this super retro concert featuring golden hits from the yesteryears. Enjoy a night of live performances of songs from the 50s to the 90s, family-friendly fringe activities and good food. Come on an empty stomach – there is going to be an epic satay feast for everyone.

4. Up Close with Benjamin Kheng and Sezairi

We can’t help but swoon over Ben Kheng’s killer smize and Sezairi’s effortless charisma. The weekend is your chance to get up close and personal with these fine lads as they share their experiences on juggling academic pursuits with their passions. They will also engage in a Q&A session, answering any of your career or academic related questions. We know you guys have one burning question in your heads right now – yes, the highly talented musicians will be blessing our ears with a live performance at the end, if that is what you were wondering. 5. TIKO TEKNO II

Anything good deserves a sequel, and Tiko Tekno is back again after a highly successful launch. Same venue, same time and the same kick-ass DJs. KiDG (Poptart) and Sound Forest will be spinning, so expect a wide spectrum of music from vintage Asian funk to banging Techno & Progressive House tunes. We’ve got your TGIF plans settled.

6. Street Portrait Photography Workshop: The Impromptu Portrait

Here’s your chance to pick up a new skill, or perhaps take your amateur photography skills to the next level. If you’re interested in street portraits, this workshop will encompass basic composition rules, framing as well as the best way to approach strangers to be your subjects, which can sometimes be daunting. All students will get to embark on a guided shoot with a professional photographer for a hands-on tutorial on nailing a street portrait.

7. GOT7: FLY IN SINGAPORE

If local indie music or EDM is not for you, seven-member K-Pop sensation GOT7 will be in town this weekend for their virgin concert tour. A fresh face in the highly competitive K-Pop scene, this emerging boyband has been making waves with their sleek dance moves and impressive chart toppers. A new addition to Gillman Barracks, this Australian exhibition explores thought-provoking themes of identity, materiality, malleability and the fleetingness of memory in the form of paintings, sculptures, photographs and installations. One chilling installation not to miss is Sam Jinks’ Babies (2012) that is entirely made from resin, silicon and human hair.

9. Brick Bazaar @Stella 2016

Lego fans, be very excited. This upcoming bazaar will be a common ground for you guys to buy, sell and trade your figurines, brick sets and everything else Lego-related. Loot A Brick will also be having a pop-up booth to showcase their customised builds and exotic Lego sets. We know how inaccessible Changi is by public transport, so the free shuttle bus service from Tanah Merah is a life saver. Alternatively, if you choose to drive, parking is free all day too.
