These Singaporean Instagrammers Are Pastel Perfection

Apart from crystallising our personal moments in digital squares and scouring the explore page for the latest brunch spots, most of us also turn to Instagram for visual inspiration. On one end of the aesthetic spectrum we’ve got desaturated, clean and monochrome edits. On the other end, a whole other pastel-hued universe awaits.
We have curated a list of local Instagrammers who are big players in the pastel world – their dreamy and whimsical edits will send an unexplainable wave of nostalgia down your spine.

Scrolling through his feed is like looking at Singapore through rose-tinted glasses, in all literal sense. Local photographer Nguan is known for capturing dream-like images of our heartland neighbourhoods. Think bus stops, common corridors in HDB blocks and void decks with everyday Singaporeans as his subject. Nguan’s washed out aesthetic makes every shot look straight out from the 90s.

A visual artist based in Singapore, Xueli’s whimsical feed brims with subtle splashes of pretty pinks, minty greens and seafoam blues. The use of muted yellow hues also bring about a cheery and uplifting vibe to her overall feed, contrasting the other cool-toned pastels nicely.

Blush pink is currently the new black, and Cherine’s Instagram aesthetic only serves to underscore the hype over this beautiful shade of pink. Her feed skews towards the pinkier side, with most images sporting distinct elements in the same pastel shade. This satisfying uniformity in her photos makes us love this colour more than we already do.
4. Justin (@xjieke)

Evidently a photographer with a keen eye for pastel, Justin brings out the understated pastel elements in our everyday buildings beautifully. The light and muted tones in his photos evoke a strong sense of nostalgia. Who knew that HDB walls could ever look this dreamy?

Co-founder of Tell Your Children Lydia Ang’s Instagram is bathed in warm hues. Her sporadic injections of many different colours into every photo keeps her feed interesting and ever alluring – each photo is refreshing and unique in its own way, yet never straying too far off from the pastel aesthetic she’s got going on.

Rachel’s editing game is just as on point as her fashion sense. This dreamy photo filter that she consistently uses is reflective of her dress style – minimal, neutral pieces with just the right hint of girly-ness. Aesthetic inspiration AND your daily dose of OOTDs? Her account is a goldmine for inspiration.
